Re: what dose if replacing DMSA with DMPS?

I notice the guidelines say every 6-8 hours for DMPS. That's a big

difference -- the difference between 4 and 3 doses per day. Which is it?

My doctor did give me a script, for 12 mg, compounded, finally, after

he put me on Plaquenil, which did not play well at all with DMSA in my

gut. I think this will also help with not having to wake up at night

on the day or two 'mop up' after ALA. Meaning, I like to continue the

'other' chelator a day or two after I stop the ALA, because it helps a

lot with the post-ALA brain issues.

You personal observations coincide similarly with my previous post of

approximate DMSA and DMPS absorption rates (20% and 50%). In your

example, your body would be receiving about 30mgs per day of DMSA and

37.5 mgs of DMPS, roughly.

Obviously there is a lot of individual variation in the way the body

tolerates the different drugs and the fact that they have different

half-lives, etc.

I checked to see if I could find sources for absorption rates of DMSA

and DMPS.

Oral absorption of DMSA was reported to be 20-22 % in: Aposhian HV,

Maiorino RM, Dart RC, DF. Urinary excretion of

meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid in human subjects. Clin Pharmacol

Ther. 1989 May;45(5):520-6

Oral absorption of DMPS was about reported to be about 39 % in:

Hurlbut KM, Maiorino RM, Mayersohn M, Dart RC, Bruce DC, Aposhian HV

I was surprised, I thought more of each was absorbed orally, but I was
