We do still have some families here in the Ozarks that have to haul water but the rural water system pretty well reaches everyone now. nancy ---------- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
I live west of Austin, TX, way out in the middle of nowhere on top of a big hill. We moved earlier this year. We have rainwater collection for drinking, the house, etc... There is a filtering/disinfecting system on it. We have enough of a collection area but it hasn't rained more than about a quarter of an inch since Memorial day. Well, that's the way it is here. Every once in a while, we'll have a pretty long stretch without much rain. Mark my words that the drought will end with a 5 inch downpour. That's what happened about 5 years ago with the big heat wave. We had 100+ days without rain and then, bam, 8 inches in 2 days. Well water here is very hard and often contains sulfur and iron. Nobody really likes to drink that stuff. You also have to change your water heater every few years because of calcium buildup. We have a well for irrigation but it's just not really drinkable without a lot of new equipment and plumbing. Therefore, when it doesn't rain, we truck in water and pray for rain. :-) Miracles happen! Cliff H. > >>>I have rainwater collection for my water and > I'm running really low. Guest guest
That is interesting to know Cliff... I don't envy you having to ship water in. Little did I know, stuck in house and ignoring weather outside but we have rain. A realy genuine thunderstorm. I knew I left my car windows cracked for a reason. Yes I remember well how drought conditions end here in Texas. I swear when we first came here in 1975 it started raining in August and didn't quit for a couple months. I really do believe we have a monsoon season here in Texas... LOL Here is hoping you got some rain too Cliff.
