Guest guest
How do I begin to tell you all about our very long day?? Just too sad to even imagine right now. I wish I could tell you all about a great day that we had with nothing but good news but unfortunately I can't. This morning the docs came in around 7:30 am and said they heard bowel sounds. I called both my parents, Jodie and Jeff to tell them the great news!! Her bowels were working again. They said they weren't concerned about pnemonia anymore as none of the cultures from the blood work and urine were growing. About 2 hours later, all of that great news was turned upside down. Amy's Palliative care doctor came in to tell Amy that the fluid that they thought was possibly pnemonia is actually a fluid build up that is incasing the lungs and it is causing the bottom of the lungs to collapse. That is why it is hard for her to breathe. He said they need to do a chest x-ray tomorrow so they can look at this fluid closer and then will probably have to take a sample and drain the fluid surrounding her lungs. They would like to test it because they are quite concerned that it is cancerous. This was one of our biggest fears, that the cancer has spread to the lungs. The doctor also talked about Amy's nutrition levels being depleted as she has not eaten in over two weeks. They were going to start her on TPN (which is a liquid nutrional supplement that enters the blood stream when the stomach can not handle food). Amy's bowels are still not working so in order to keep her nutritional levels ok they need to be providing her with something. Before they went to take her down to get the PIC line, they realized her fever was back up! So they couldn't take her down the hook up anything when she has a fever. The nurse then says that the major concern is to find out where the fever is coming from and to check the lungs with the chest x-ray. Amy is VERY tired and can barely stay awake at any point in the day. It is so devastating to see her like this. She is really not up for any visitors or phone calls. I am really at a loss tonight of anything else to tell you as the situation continues to worsen...... Hopefully will know more tomorrow. lots of hugs, Peta
Guest guest
Peta, I am sorry that Amy is still having so many problems. And I am sure having the breathing problems and lack of oxegen is also contributing to her being so tired. I wish somehow things will get better. Perhps some better news tomorrow. I am Praying for her. And Praying for your strength to go through this with her. Ingrid > How do I begin to tell you all about our very long day?? Just too > sad to even imagine right now. Guest guest
Thanks for the explanation, I had forgotten that you live in Canada and some things are a bit different there. I hope she can get some relief and feel better soon. What part of Canada do you live in? I live on the border, in Minnesota. My job involves working with communities on both sides of the border, (Manitoba & Ontario). Hugs & Prayers, H --- petakerr2002 petakerr2002@...> wrote: > Hi > > Sorry to confuse you.
