Only Jerusalem is more pleasant as it is in the mountains, drier, cooler, not so humid, and cools down blissfully at night. We used to have a flat by the sea in Netanya (scene of some tragic suicide bombings recently) but when the breeze died there, it became impossibly hot and humid. Even though Jerusalem has no beach there is no place in Israel more than about 40 mns drive from the coast, and the holy city more than makes up for the lack of sand and sea, by the wondrous feeling of history that surrounds us every step we take on its ancient stones. Guest guest
Well got Emma up for school this morning, stepped outside to take her to the bus and the heat hit me - this was 6.45am this morning. Now its 10.54am and its 38 already, thats over 100F. Who knows how hot it will be by 1pm. Off to find a human sized fridge to stand in - or perhaps I may camp out over a friends house - she has air conditioning! Regrettably not - apparently the big ceiling fans are our penance - but I tell you swirly hot air is almost as bad as still hot air. Its still hot. So we are going to the beach this afternoon to watch Simon do his windsurfing. I may never get out of the sea again! Sue
