Guest guest
IIRC they have fairly recently changed the rules, so pharmacists have to actually *see* the certificate, previously they would just take you at your word (or your bump!!) I didn't know about maternity excemption certificates my midwife told me the first time. She was also the one who told me that even though I was no longer working I might well be entitled to (is it maternity allowance it's called I cant remember it was 4 years ago) so I applied and I got it with having worked exactly 1 week longer than I needed to to qualify for the top rate ;o).. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
Guest guest
Yes they have. I've always had the certificate which I've never had to show for anything so for this last pregnancy (third one), I thought it was a waste of paper. I was really shocked when the girl at the dentist said they would need to see it. I think I was seven months gone, but they said the rules had changed and they had to see it. But I've managed to get several things at the chemist since DS3 was born and they've not asked, so it still depends a bit on where you go. Guest guest
Thats weird, I went to my dentist to re register (not been for 6 years!!), and they said I wouldnt need to show my certificate, seeing the baby was enough proof! My chemist never asked, even when Calvin was almost 1. The dentist’s office had to see it and asked me probing questions about it, like I was lying or something. But then, I am in the chemist’s all the time and went to the dentist’s just once. I definitely had one of those, though I have a friend who just had a baby, but who didn’t look pregnant until about 7 months along. She looked like she was putting on some weight, but it wasn’t bump shaped. She also doesn’t now look like she just had a baby. Sigh. >Did you also know that you can free chiopady care whilst >you are expecting? >Trisha What’s chiopady ? Guest guest
That's what I thought , but they said the baby could belong to someone else.......?!?!? Do people really go round " borrowing " babies to get free dental treatment?! Guest guest
Have you seen the cost of fillings these days? Of course if you breastfed baby in the reception area that would be more proof )))) I think some people just delight in telling others they must blah and they cannot blah blah! The Spanish immigration and check in officials at Barcelona airport could not get their head around the fact that Carys has her own passport (cos new regs were in force when we came to get her onto a passport) whereas the elder two are on mine. Whats more they couldn't even find the right page in my passport to prove we were not illegaly smuggling children (who have an uncanny resemblance to Carys and besides, who would possibly want my two badly behaved brats!). Then we went through the same rigmarole at Stansted. I was very tempted to tell the IO that I used to work for Immigration and Nationality but I remembered their powers of arrest and detention, shut my mouth and smiled sweetly ) Lesley ANT, tr BFC, Mother, Wife, Friend, Mender of Broken Hearts, Keeper of Secrets, Chauffeur, Cook, Maid, Writer.
