Hey Jody,

Yup, I had the surgery on the 17th of October. After months of

trying to control my blood pressure and being told that I was a

stroke waiting to happen, DH and I finally decided that it was the

right decision for us.

We fired two endo's, got two second opinions and everyone agreed

that my blood pressure was a huge issue for me. Also, the fact that

everyone thought that I wasn't a candidate for remission figured

into the equation also. If my blood pressure would have improved

even a little bit and the risk for stroke would have lowered we

might have tried a different route, but this was the best choice for

us.

The second they took out my thyroid my blood pressure went right

back to normal for me which I am very thankful for! The pressure of

worrying about having a stroke for all those months was going to

cause me to have a stroke if you know what I mean! Lol

Thanks for answering my question! I thought that might be the

answer, but I wanted to be sure. I know I don't participate much,

but between the surgery, my DH getting deployed and everything that

goes along with that I've been a little frazzled. I still read the

board all the time so I don't miss anything. Now, I just need to

figure out what I'm supposed to be doing for the Graves since the

surgery :)

Thanks again,

Kathy
