From the Faq, it looks like you start with 1/8mg per pound of child. So for my 29 pound son that would be about 3.6mg of DMSA and ALA every 3 hours. ------------Just a reminder, you should probably start with just one chelator at a time, so you know how your son reacts to each one.----------Jackie How do you measure such a small amount accurately? I've never seen capsules at that small a dosage, and I don't want to give him too much at once. ------------You can get 25mg capsules of DMSA at a few places, in the links section, www.VRP.com is the one I'm familiar with. Kirkman's sells 25mg capsules of ALA, http://kirkmanlabs.com/, and I think I remember hearing that they sell a combination of DMSA/ALA, might be 12.5mg of each, but it might require a prescription. You could ask Kirkman's about it, or on Autism-Mercury. And one of our members has a doctor who compounds very low doses of DMSA/ALA, and I think she said he would do it for anybody, since these ingredients don't require a prescription. I'm pretty sure it was Nahla, and I think she has given the link to her doctor before, so a search of archives might find it. I think he will do doses as low as 1mg each. Otherwise, if you have to split the 25mg capsules yourself, I dump mine out on a sheet of paper, and divide it into equal piles with a knife, as close as you can get by eye. Then I push one pile onto a smaller piece of paper that I have folded so it has a crease down the middle. The crease helps get it into the empty capsule. I just remembered, you won't be putting it into capsules, because your son will be taking it in juice. Get some of those paper " nut cups " or small paper cups, and dump one dose in each cup, so you have it ready to mix with the juice when you need it. I think Andy says it shouldn't be mixed too far ahead of time, or it will start to lose its effectiveness. You could get some powdered Vit C and add some of that to each dose also, if you want. And I know because he's so little you are concerned about giving him too much, and I would be also, but I do remember hearing that the kids seem to tolerate higher doses (in comparison, pound wise) than the adults. I think some of us adults are more toxic from a lifetime of exposures. I have had my 13yo son do a few sporatic rounds, and he has had no side effects from 12.5mg each of DMSA/ALA, so in comparison to me, yes he tolerates more. Hope this helps.
