Guest guest
I had the radiation treatment last Friday and was put on the medicines Sunday. I'm not sure, but I ran 103 fever Friday and Saturday and he called it a thryroid explosion. So he immediately put me on the Proplylthiour. It just takes like taking a packet of BC Powder or Stanbacks and leaving them on your tongue, while you try to eat and drink during the day. He is also putting me starting with 16 of the Proplythiour, 4 pills, 4 times a day. That sucks. Yesterday I felt like I had a boat anchor in my stomach. So I'm new, bu I'm learning............. >From: cfyoung2@... >Reply-To: graves_support >To: graves_support >Subject: Re: Re: WHITT/New to the Group >Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2002 13:15:49 -0600 > _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

Guest guest
Welcome. What was the reaction? Do they have any reason to think it didn't take (in which case they may recommend a second RAI)? How long ago did you have the RAI? The good news for you is that you have a dr. who recognizes the possible need for ATDs after RAI. (My first endo didn't. He lasted one appointment.) It could be that you are already becoming hypo. Unfortunately many endos wait till patients become excessively hypo before they start the patient on TRH (thyroid replacement hormones.) What you need right now are the following tests: FREET4, FREET3 (capitalized for emphasis) and TSH. You may need antibody testing too. But those three tests are the tests you will ALWAYS want run, for life. TRH after RAI is almost always a lifelong proposition which means that while you may eventually stabilize, you will always face the prospect of needing finetuning. Many hypo patients, especially after RAI, do not do well on the TRH medications that address T4 conversion only, like synthroid, and you will want a dr. with experience in prescribing T3 (e.g. cytomel and Armour). Don't ever let a dr. tell you that you're not feeling crummy enough for a dose adjustment or that feeling crummy is normal. It happens, but it's never desirable, for your short and long term health, to stay there. Take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month!
