Guest guest
Hi, My dad & Grandpa have me taking vitamins & stuff. I have never been on regular pills, even have a hard time being consistent with prenatals. I am taking: Calcium,Zinc Picolinate,Magnesium, B-12,Hi-B-50 complex,L-Carnitine and my prenatal w/out iodine. Do you know of any problems with taking these with thyroid disease. Had thanksgiving at my house tonight,I ave 11 brothers & sisters,5 that are married w/children. Did not go well, I realize with any stress,my symptoms are too noticeable and I want drugs. But still Thankful:). Welcome to the Newer ! ~Godspeace
Guest guest
Hi , The vitamins will help strengthen your immune system and may reduce some of your hyper symptoms. It's a good idea to take supplements and the ones you mentioned sound perfect. Take care, Elaine

Guest guest
Hi , I was assuming your multi-vite had copper in it, but is right. Too much zinc compared to copper can increase hyper symptoms. Normally, the ratio of copper to zinc should be 1:8, but if you have a low copper, you want the ratio to be lower, more in the range of 1:3 to 1:5. This usually requires taking supplemental iron. For example if you're taking 30 mg zinc you would need about 8 mg of copper while you're hyperthyroid. When you become euthyroid, you should be at the 1:8 ratio, which is the ratio in most multivitamins. Take care, Elaine

And how much COPPER is in that prenatal? If you are hypER, you need a ratio of COPPER to ZINC, approx 1:7. If you are getting too much zinc, without the copper to balance it, this can aggravate hyper symptoms. Best Wishes, Chris

And how much COPPER is > in that prenatal? I can't remember why they wanted me on Zinc, I have no experience with vitamins, but want to learn. But want to discontinue using the ones that could be harmful...My Dad isn't educated on the disease,so is trying to help with symtoms. Anyway..I take 1 ,30 mg zinc picolinate a day and my prenatal has 25 mg zinc in it. Thankyou (&Pam&Elaine) for your help!!!! Much appreciated.
