That's what the community dentists said to me - or rather the other

way round as DS1 was relatively late - over 10 months with the first

and they said that was good because his second teeth would be later

too, so his mouth would be bigger and therefore less risk of

overcrowding problems (especially good news for me as I had lots of

teeth out to fit my petite little jaw, haha! Even now my teeth are

all slowly crowding in again, due to unerupted wisdom teeth that are

otherwise not causing any problems and will be, to quote my dentist

'a bugger' to get out.)

It's not something I've heard much about, so I'd be interested to

hear what everyone else has to say.

My older daughter, 15 on Sept 1st next, had the same. She cut her

first teeth at 4 months (can't remember which ones but probably

bottom front as they are usually the first ones to come out) and had

lost some teeth by the age of 5.

I think that's how it works. is desperate (at 5.5) for her teeth to

fall out but there's no movement yet. She didn't get her first until 10

months so I'm not anticipating them starting to fall out any time soon.

tooth-loss?

Yep - that's what seems to be happening here too - DD got her first tooth at

3m and lost it before she was 5 - in fact she gets v annoyed now that her

friends don't realise she has already lost two teeth (at 5 1/2) - as the

adult teeth have already taken their place. I was also v early to get my

adult teeth - and certainly suffered orthodontically for it - though I was

early enough for my brace to be a novelty rather than an embarrassment!

Sam got his first tooth at 10 months - there is not a sign of a wobble and

he is 7 on Wednesday...is this really late?

Both Kieran and Emma cut theirs early and have lost/is losing in

Kieran's case them early.

Kieran pulled one out today at Granny & Grandad's house - with much

glee!

I don't think I'll break it to that she may have to wait until she's

7. It wouldn't go down well :-)

Loads of children in her class (Reception) have already lost theirs so I

think it is all down to when they started to get their milk teeth.

Bother - both mine are set to lose theirs early - Kitty had a full mouth (bar

the back 4 molars) by 10 months and the back 4 are now through. 's

were early too. Better start saving...

Ellie didn`t lose any till she was at Junior school (May b'day so she

was at least 7 yrs 4 mths).

is going to Junior school in sept (also May b'day, she is now

7 yrs 2mths) and has lost only one, a lower one, which came out about 3

mths ago. She is desperate for the one next to it to fall out.

I was always late with teeth myself, so I don`t worry, it`s just a bit

less wear on their adult teeth which have got to last them a v long

time!

Calvin had his bottom centre teeth at 4?m and all his milk teeth by 18m. He

lost the first milk tooth (one of the centre bottom ones) a week before his

7th birthday. I was a bit concerned that they were taking so long because

they were actually wearing down, especially his top middle two, but his

dentist wasn't bothered at all. He's 8 at the end of August and has lost

about 6 milk teeth over the past year, but hasn't been very " gappy " as the

second teeth seem to be in place at the most 2wks after the milk tooth has

come out.

I have 2 identical little cross stitch envelope things. The tooth goes into

one under the pillow and the coin in the other for me swiftly to swap later on

in the dark.

DS2 has his first wobbly one at the moment so I am going to have to remember to

take the envelopes on holiday - is there a French tooth fairy giving French

money, or will the home fairy come and find him?

They have tooth mice in France. did all about it at French Club *and*

came home with a little paper box to put her teeth in - how am I going to be

able to keep that for 18 months to 2 years? I think I feel another

stitching project coming on.

When in Wales we found that the tooth fairy was far more generous than in Jersey

and give a welsh £1.00 coin! and if she is ever late its because her motorbike

has broken down .. don't question the reasoning of a disappointed 5yo. BTW both

girls cut teeth early and lost milk teeth early. DD2 cut first tooth at 13weeks

and adults started at around 4

There is an Arthur book that we have called (I think) Arthur's Wobbly

tooth, about how he was the last one in his class to lose a tooth, but

his dentist reassures him (he's 7 and the dentist says he was 8 when

he lost his) might be worth looking out for or you can borrow our

copy!

DD was early with cutting teeth (also very problem free with all of

her teeth) - and early losing them too.

Am having same situation with unerrupted wisdom teeth slowly undoing

all the lovely orthodontic work my parents paid for all those years

ago....started orthodontics at 11 which I think is on early side?

I asked my nice dentist if there was any correlation between teeth

crowding and headaches and he thought that the research was

inconclusive

Ha! this is a nice adaptation of the midwife in black leathers who

turned up on her motorbike to birth my SIL - will have to be adapted

for those rather fey fairies we have been having now that it's DS's

teeth that will be a-fallin' out, still like the idea of them drinking

herbal teas tho' and driving their miniscule motorbikes around the

place....along the spiders webs a la Arthur Rackham!
