Says he's never had anything hurt so bad....he has a very low pain tolerance, so I doubt that's really true...LOL He's still in a lot of obvious pain, blood pressure 74/48 and tummy is fuller than yesterday. This pump does not appear to be working to me....they said, " Give it time " . It's suppose to pump on its own (how? I don't know) when he's lying down flat. When he's at a 45 degree angle, as in the Lazy Boy, it should pump " some " ...and when he's standing, it does not pump at all on its own. He has to learn how to regulate....when to go lie down for a while, etc. He's gained 12 lbs. in 3 days, so it's definitely fluid... the pump can be manually pumped 10-20 times morning and evening, but he's too tender in the area of the pump to even do that....and would not let the dr. do it after the first time on Tues. He has not had the lower abdomen pain that he has suffered with for almost a year....nor any pressure pain in the mid-chest area!!!! I'm still praying for no infection and no internal bleeding...he will have to have a home nurse come in probably for a few days next weeks...I'm off until Tuesday, maybe he'll be stronger and in less pain by then. He has an anti-biotic and some pain meds rx's. That's where we are right now...he's home, but not a happy camper!! And I'm getting more unhappy by the minute...so I came to read msgs...and vent!! Glenn has got to be feeling pretty bad. Oh, ...before the surgery, it wasn't unusual for him to be carrying around 20 lbs. or more extra fluid weight... Once the area of the surgery/pump heals, he'll be able to just push on one end of the pump area and it will pump...it's just too tender now...he won't let anyone touch him...LOL They definitely say as he heals it will be easier and more comfortable. With the Diabetes, it takes so darn long for anything on him to heal. I didn't see the dr. yesterday...so have to call him on Tues. Glenn said the dr. said to just give it some time to heal. The thing that bothers me the most is that Glenn is lying down quite a bit and it's still building up...the pump is suppose to work on its own when he's lying down....worried about that. Does that mean that the pump is NOT working on its own?? Lots of hugs and prayers, Donelle Caregiver to Glenn

Guest guest
Donelle Sure hope things are going better for Glenn. Hope that pump starts working right and the you have the home care nurse to come in and pump the machine especially if Glenn won't do it. I guess we would all be grouchy and bitchy if we were going through what he has to these days. I know it is rough on you to have to deal with it. God Bless you both Hugs Jolene
