> Some of her recipes are good, but others just DO NOT

WORK!!!

The quince glaze from Domestic Goddess was a disaster - also

the Rhubarb Muscat Jelly was just very dull and not sweet

enough. Her marmite sandwiches are nice though!

Don't forget to watch 'A Lump in my throat' tomorrow night - about

her late-DH Diamond.

I'm amazed - I've never had a disaster from any of her books - though

haven't got Nigella Bites. I love her recipes, and am really struggling

with Weight Watchers because it won't let me make them! (Just try finding a

Nigella recipe without butter/olive oil/cream or all 3!)

I *adore* the Domestic Goddess book - cupcake heaven!!

well - the cupcakes work - as do the molten chocolate babycakes (although DH

says if I ever make those again he'll walk out - is it my fault that he pigs

out, eats all his and then finishes mine as well?), and the banana muffins are

good too. But one of the cheescakes was an unmitigated disaster (I forget which

one) Granny Lawson's Lunch dish needed twice as much pastry as the recipe

allowed. I remember an articel on thge Sunday Times once saying that a lot of

her quantities were way off - I didn't believe the article as at that point

everything I'd tried had worked. I think I'll just have to make sure I truial

run her recipes before I try them when we've got friends coming over!

I have this trouble with Delia .

Mind you, I can see me not getting to do much cooking before long -

DS1 wants to make the bread these days and is a whizz with yoghurt

cake - he even remembers the ingredients I forget.

I've had great success with her chocolate cake - made it for open day managed to

grab a slice before the gannets descended - had half turned around to paint a

childs face - when I'd finished it turned back to have the rest with my coffee

to find Francesca licking the plate!!!
