Twelve days ago, I underwent surgery (hysterctomy) after being

diagnosed with having two large ovarian cysts (blood tests and showed

cancer). During surgery they also removed part of my bowel that showed

cancer as well. I had thought that I was going to be treated for

Ovarian cancer, but today I learned the pathology results showed no

ovarian cancer, but that I have colon cancer, and apparently in an

advanced stage (because the cancer was in a few different areas). My

surgeon said that he is confident that they removed all the cancer, but

now I find myself dealing with a totally different beast - Colon Cancer.

Before beginning treatment for the colon cancer, I must thoroughly

recover from my hysterectomy - probably another 3-4 weeks. Once

recovered from my surgery, I will see a new doctor and go from there.

I feel lost and afraid and am looking for information on colon cancer

and what to expect. I have a small cirlce of family and close friends,

but feel so alone and afraid. I am 49 years old and am ready to fight

this beast if that is possible.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

Bless your heart. I remember the days, weeks of shock after my diagnosis of 3C

uterine cancer.

Shed many tears.

You will find hope, help and a family here to help you:)

Hi, Welcome to our group. I too was diagnosed at 49 years old . Sept.

29, 04 I had my right side of my colon removed and one lymph node

tested postitive. I endured six months of Folfox Chemo. Not a lot of

fun but quite endurable.

I am so sorry you are having to fight this beast they call cancer.

Many beat it and you will too. I think your next step will be that

chemo will be recomended. I would highly recomend that you do it

since it will give you better odds of preventing any reoccurance.

PLEASE!!!!! Do not do what I did. I started doing a lot of research

and looking at all the statistics. Made me quite depressed. The

treatments they have now a days are so much more advanced. The

statistics they give are five years old. With the newer treatments

the odds are so much better. Please post here and tell us how you are

doing and what treatments they are recomending. You will get lots of

support here and a lot of answers to your questions. The people here

are very caring and well informed about the treatments since many

have gone through them. So let us know how you are doing. Ingrid

Thank you for your positive reply. You are right. I am surfing the

web reading up on info, and am getting scared, negative and very

confused. I will do everything I have to do to fight this battle and

will definitely keep in touch with this group - it seems to be just

what I need right now.

Thank you again :)-
