Guest guest
Hi Terry, What a great appointment! Your endo definitely belongs on the top doc list, and you belong on the top people list for educating yourself and diplomatically giving him a little push. I'm glad my book helped, but you're the one doing all the work. Hope you're able to banish those headaches soon. Take care, Elaine
Guest guest
OK. !!!!! This is an important announcement...the best Christmas present you can give is Elaine's book to your endo. I did last year, and I think judging from today's appt. he has read it all, finally, and assimilated every last word. Want to hear about a 'miracle' appt? First, he smiles (the guy is not known for bedside manner so to speak). Then he looks at the labs (FT4 1.8 in a ..7-2.0 range; TSH <.01). Then he ASKS me how much tap I'm taking now (in a way that communicates he knows I do my own dose adjustments, and that's oK), and then agrees with me that it's right. Says " ***we could probably get your TSH to move if we overmedicated you down to a FT4 of .7*** " , but it always lags and I " M NOT WORRIED ABOUT THAT!!! This, from a guy who has always been concerned with TSH. Then he says we need to be concerned about bone loss, are you taking enough calcium? I tell him yes, I am, and remember I had a density scan last January (results in the file of course) and I am normal, normal normal. And I tell him all the weight-bearing exercise I do, and he listens and smiles again...OK, he had no suggestions with regard to the headaches, except to see my gyno which I know is the right answer anyway...I said to him, I have a theory that I've been hyper all my life and only feel good when I'm at the high end, and he says nothing to disagree with it! And, he ended the appointment with " I know you are on top of things, let's just stay with the ATD's as long as you need to be on them, I trust your judgement " !!! I think it might just be time to add the now-educated endo to the top doc's list. He's come a long way, baby! Terry
