Guest guest
Francesca I don't know (and I am sure someone on here will know ;o) ) But today at my scan when Iw as told my baby's placenta was well out of the way I said Oh good I was worried that my " luck " had run out as I my 2 other pregnancies have had very high placed placenta. the woman who did the scan said well the thing is it is purely luck nothing can tell.. So.. (I will be reading the reply's with interest though ;o) ) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. As the uterus grows through the pregnancy it stretches and the placenta appears to move further away from the cervix - it's not really placenta previa at all and telling women at 20 week scans that they've got low-lying placenta's just serves to worry them and is not useful at all IMNSHO! It's very unlikely that it will still be low-lying later on and you'd almost certainly start getting some bleeding which would alert you, if it was. Hope that helps ) Hannah, 27 Mum to Bethany 7, Lawrence 5 1/2, Verity 3, Alfie 5 months Visit me on the web at :- http://hannahshome.20m.com
Guest guest
Hi Francesca > I had this with DD2 but fortunately it moved up well out of the way > and I could have a vaginal birth. However read a bit of a scary story > in hits month's Prima Baby which said that the chances of it occurring > are higher if you have already had it. I had a low lying placenta this PG, scan at 32 wks showed it has moved up out of the way so that I can still have my planned home-birth According to Enkin et al (2000) approx. 5-6% of placentae are found to be low lying during routine u/s early in the 2nd trimester and over 90% of these become normally situated later. My feeling is that you haven't had a true placenta praevia unless it stays that way, therefore whatever info. Prima Baby is going by either: - refers to women who've had 'true' placenta praevia and therefore doesn't apply to you - refers to the majority of women whose placenta becomes normally situated and therefore all this means is that you may have a greater chance of your placenta being low lying again but the same chance as before of it becoming normally situated later in PG HTH Jenni (& Gethyn) 17yrs, Mari 3yrs (H/B), Babi Bach exp.09/2001 = 33wks+ " If you don't know your options - you don't have any " Does anyone know whether this > is right or not?
