He was right I didn't like it, found it too violent for me Crowe was good though. In a completely different league/category the film that has left me most traumatised was The Piano, I thought it was amazing but just could not watch it ever again as it left me upset for days - a film has never had such a profound effect on me - anyone else felt like this?? Guest guest
I certainly enjoyed The Piano. DW loved it so much she made us go to Kare Kare beach for her thirtieth (the piano wasn't there any longer..) Lovely beach though james > > In a completely different league/category the film that has left me most > traumatised was The Piano, I thought it was amazing but just could not watch > it ever again as it left me upset for days - a film has never had such a > profound effect on me - anyone else felt like this?? >

Guest guest
I didn't like the Piano and wouldn't voluntarily see it again but Silence of the Lambs had me hysterical, those awful bits where the girl was in the pit - Hannibal Lector didn't bother me at all. I'm hopeless with any kind of horror film - why do they NEVER turn the lights on? - and had to be escorted to the loo all night having seen Halloween. Wotta wimp! Conversely, to cheer me up cos I've gone goose pimply, I love that one where the bloke turns his corn field into a baseball pitch, what is that called? And The Railway Children where her dad gets off the train and appears through the steam and Agutter says " Daddy, my daddy " always has me in buckets but I love it! I like Baseball Films, although the game is *so* dull (sorry to all americans on this list - I missed a 'Home Run' because I was ordering beer once) another good baseball film is 'Bull Durham' with Sarrandon and (I think) Costner. http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/

The Piano is one of my landmark films, post marriage collapse because it was the first film I went to see on my own - not only is it possible it is enjoyable. (Unfortunately solo film going becomes a bit addictive!) So we had some of the music at our wedding! -- jennifer@... Vaudin
Guest guest
I haven’t seen the Piano, but have intended to rent it for years. I also haven’t seen Silence of the Lambs, more than 5 minutes of any Alien movie, Gladiator, Saving Private , etc etc. I did see Pulp Fiction on a date and almost fainted during the needle-in-heart scene. Didn’t think it was all that great - mostly a festival of blood and violence - and didn’t date that guy for much longer after that - not only because he took me to see that movie and promised it wasn’t all that bad. I am very much a wimp and far too sensitive to watch that sort of thing. >Conversely, to cheer me up cos I've gone goose pimply, I >love that one >where the bloke turns his corn field into a baseball pitch, >what is that called? Field of Dreams. Loved it! Might be issues to do with my own father that made it even more touching for me, but I like both baseball and mystical stuff. IMHO, it’s the only movie with Costner that wasn’t crap. (Ducking my head down just in case anyone wants to sigh about his bare naked behind in Robin Hood, my nomination for worst pseudo-British accent EVER, and that includes Dick van Dyke in Poppins. And don’t forget I’m an American and not all that discriminating about pseudo-British accents ) Phyllis __________________________________________________
Guest guest
You know I think it was the music - they used the same piece over and over and over again. And i think I have this inbuilt thing where I object to a piano piece played so it sounds like someone is using their elbows... probably just me. I wasn't in a good mood when I went to see it... perhaps the overall tone of the film wasn't good for me at that time. However, I just cannot face watching it again. In any case fave films for DVD, well The Matrix is good, and yes I have Gladiator ( Crowe, yummy), but also got The X Men the other day. But my favourite on DVD at the moment is a six part BBC Drama called Ultraviolet. Does anyone remember it being on TV? Its great. Sue tired, hot and glowing!!! 80% humidity here.
