I absolutely love horror films, especially the B movie horrors like THE evil

DEAD, Didnt find Silence of the Lambs scary at all, way too much hype at

the time. Scream was a big dissapointment too, ave you seen the Blair

Witch project yet?

DH practically had to carry me to the car after we saw Silence of the Lambs,

I was so scared! But for real terror about something that could easily

happen to you, the airplane scene in Castaway has to be the worst. I was so

frightened I thought I was going to faint. When I got home I wanted to

cancel our holiday flights. Ghastly.

I'm useless with films like this - they would just prey on my mind

unreasonably. Thanks for the warning about Castaway Lesley - I'm not going

to watch it! I love going to films that make me laugh a lot, but can't

think of many that do that. Full Monty was one of them and the Parole

Officer out this week looks like it might be good....

Cast Away? I *hated* that film - it was wave after wave of awful

experiences of which the crash wasn't the worst for me (despite my

particular dislike of submarine films), I felt tense the whole time,

really felt like I couldn't take any more - I normally rejoice in

non-Hollywood endings, but could have done with one this time - and I

was absolutely livid when it said it was all fictional ....Much as DH

was over The English Patient - he said life's hard enough without

making unpleasant stories up, superbly made though both films were,

and despite him usually complaining of my taste for the grim, but

seeing nothing to complain of in Cast Away (and he's the one who is

afraid of flying!) He thinks my ranting on the subject is very

amusing (just as well!) It was my parents' wedding anniversary and

Saving Private was rejected as not the right mood...I don't

think we did much better with Cast Away, but maybe those in the know

could tell me otherwise?

I was really irritated that there were no special features whatsoever

on the DVD - much as I hated it, I would have liked to have known a

lot more about the making of it (and it might have been less horrific

'de-constructed' as it were). But then, too many special features

seem to be just a selection of participants telling you how wonderful

everyone else was.

One of our favourites is Apollo 13 - DS1 likes watching the lift off

scene and DH sits there and goes on about the amazing production

values (he has a whole monologue on the *door mechanism*!!!) and gets

all maudlin about being a wimp because he isn't made of The Right

Stuff and wouldn't have the guts to be an astronaut. I ask you! I

tell him they were probably all lousy fathers and husbands.

For me the plane scene definitely was the worst bit, but otherwise my

reaction was just like yours. I was so tense all the way through, waiting

for something even worse than the plane crash to happen - but it never did!!

They might at least have put a shark attack in, which is what I thought was

going to happen. Horrible film.

I once watched Friday the 13th with my big brother and his friends when I

was 16 - I thought I was sooooo grown up!! However, they were all really

spooked, and tried to hide the fact that they were scared by reviewing each

horrific bit frame by frame to prove it wasn't real - I had nightmares for

weeks and I still can't go out on a boat on a lake... DH wants to have a

holiday on a canal boat in Scotland so we can go onto Loch Ness!!!!!!!!
