My daughter Traci was diagnosed at birth with a merconium illeus. We did the

blood test at 3 days old and it came back positive with CF- Delta 508- When

she was 3 months the clinic told us that she had to have a sweat test. We

found out that insurance requires TWO confirmations. Now get this, her sweat

test came back negative. Of course we repeated it a weeks later and it came

back positive. So you just never know.

That's unbelievable! Do you know if your clinic (or insurance company) still

requires the sweat test in addition to the blood test?

Hi Guys:

Does anybody know where I can

perform a " Sweat Test " . I

want to know how much mercury

and other heavy metals I excrete

through sweat while walking

on the treadmill or sitting

in the sauna.

I called all the labs I know

here in the USA but nobody

seems to perform this test.

There is a lab in London called

Biolab that perform this test

on premises, due to my health

conditions swimming across

'The Chanel' might be a bit too

much for my adrenals. 8)

Any hints welcomed and thanked

in advanced.

Vince.

No idea - but Andy says that sauna every day (did he say 1 hour or 2??)

is equivalent to one day of DMSA chelation - for what that's worth.

I live near London and have had the Biolab sweat test done several

times over a long period, 10 years or so. Initially it showed

elevated mercury in sweat, now it shows very low levels. It does

seem that saunas would have been more useful for me in the earlier

days and less so now. However I haven't done a sweat test while

chelating, and suspect if I did the result would be higher. I

still do saunas while chelating if I can. I don't know anywhere

else you can get the test, though it's simple enough to do. You

just wear a patch on your skin for a couple of hours, then put the

sweat collected through HPLC.

I feel really good when I do saunas or

sweat while walking, I wanted to make sure it

was indeed because of mercury excretion.

Do the lower levels of mercury in your test

correlate with feeling better and being more

healthy over the years?

Thanks for the reply! If you ever come across a lab

in the USA that performs this test, I would

love to hear about it.

Cheers,

Vince.

Dave,

I sweat a lot and feel better after

a sauna or a short walk. I'm really

thrilled about this and think I'm

going to continue, I really hope

it's because I'm dumping mercury over

board. ;)

Cheers,

Vince.

We get so focused on mercury, that we assume it is causing everything, and it

probably certainly causes many of our problems. But, the point I want to make

is, is that if the sweating is making you feel better, it is doing something

good for you and you are getting rid of *something bad*, so it doesn't really

matter if it is mercury or something else. As long as it's making you feel

better, keep doing it :) --------Jackie

Yes lower levels in sweat do correlate to improvement in my case, but

I wouldn't generalise from this as all the test shows up is " current

account " mercury in the blood. I think I still have a lot

of " deposit account " mercury mainly in the brain, based mainly on the

side-effects of chelation with ALA which are still strong for me.

Years ago, before I knew anything about mercury, I did find that

saunas gave me quite a boost, but I don't know if that was because of

moving mercury, which tends to make me feel worse. It could just

have been to do with raising body temperature, as my temperature was

generally too low due to endocrine problems probably caused by

mercury. Whatever the reason I don't notice any direct benefit

from saunas now. One good thing about sweating is that you can't

reabsorb what you excrete whereas excreting through the bile with ALA

does create a big opportunity for reabsorbtion through the gut.

Perhaps this is why chelating is hard for me but saunas not.
