I keep seeing people post about this. Can someone explain who or what it is? Is

it in Boston? Are there good doctors in Boston? I just started with the pulmo

guy I'm seeing. But, I'd like to know as much as possible. I feel like the only

way yo fight this is to stay as informed as I can.

It is a company in Boston...notice the word " company " . It's a business

that was set up initially by two doctors from Harvard and is either the

greatest thing ever or a self-serving, self-appointed organization of

questionable value.

Here is it's web address:

http://www.bestdoctors.com/bd/index.php

It is mainly used by insurance companies as a resource. Again,

debatable. The companies would say " to insure you get the right

diagnosis " while some might say " to try to avoid incurring further

expense where possible. "

The way it works is your files, labs, or other information is sent to

this company and then reviewed by other doctors. While that might be

helpful in some cases, I personally want a second opinion by someone who

sees me and who I can see in person. It may or may not be a valuable

additional resource.

Now, as to Interstitial Lung Diseases, there is an established network

of medical centers with expertise in the area. This is available at

www.ipfnet.org

There are also some excellent doctors and facilities in Boston. We have

members here who go to Brigham and Womens Hospital there and are very

pleased with them. I don't know which other facilities or doctors we

have members using in Boston.
