As someone has already posted it is written by Arundhati Roy, I'm looking at

it right now :) Haven't read it yet but am going on holiday end of this

week (oops that must be tomorrow!!) and I'm taking it with me - so here's

hoping Mari gives me the 'space' and that I'm not too tired :)

I read it a few years ago and enjoyed it, but I thought it was a bit

over-rich in similes and metaphors; every sentence had at least one

" something like something " IYSWIM. However it did make me think

about the more restrained use of similes and metaphors in my own

writing :)

Beautiful use of language though.
