As someone has already posted it is written by Arundhati Roy, I'm looking at

it right now Haven't read it yet but am going on holiday end of this

week (oops that must be tomorrow!!) and I'm taking it with me - so here's

hoping Mari gives me the 'space' and that I'm not too tired

I read it a few years ago and enjoyed it, but I thought it was a bit

over-rich in similes and metaphors; every sentence had at least one

" something like something " IYSWIM. However it did make me think

about the more restrained use of similes and metaphors in my own

writing

Beautiful use of language though.
