Guest guest
Beverley/ I have found where others have mentioned the hurting to cry as it does play with your tear ducts. There are actually cases where crying exercises are tried. So, it would make sense you were having a hard time creating the tears. > > > > ... Guest guest
Beverly, Hi, I am Sunny and I have Lupus and Sjogrens. My worst symptoms are dry eyes (they are considering putting in tubes for tear migration), dry mouth and joint pain (but that could be the Lupus or arthritis). The biggest thing I have found with Sjogrens is taking the absolute best care of your teeth. As you sleep, since you don't create saliva to kill off bacteria, it just sits and rots your teeth. Anyway, here are the things I have done at my dentist's request: Bought a Sonicare, Use Biotene toothpaste, mouth wash and mouth spray for dryness. I have lost a few teeth but overall things are looking good. Of course be sure and brush at least 3-4 times a day and floss, floss, floss! I also use Refresh Celluvisc for my eyes and that helps with the dryness. You might have to deal with some eye gunkiness but all in all I would say that for me Sjogrens has been the least of my illness'. Hope this info helps. God Bless and keep smiling! Guest guest
Hi, Sunny. Your response to Beverly was very timely for me. Today, the rheumotologist told me I had Sjogren's, adding that syndrome to my growing litany of ills. She suggested over-the-counter artificial tears, as well as the Biotin products. Also a before-bed ointment to help with the dry eyes. Need to be a little careful of the dry-eye remedies, as I do have glaucoma. We also discussed the current suggested treatment-du-jour of high-dose steriods - which I do not want. The good news (bad news?) is that the Sjogren's is primary, and I do not have lupus or scleroderma or any other known connective tissue disorders. Guest guest
Sunny...just keep on hangin' on kiddo. I know some days can be crappy and waiting for results is never an easy thing to do. You will know tomorrow! What mail are you using? Something like Outlook Express or from the web? I can help w/OE but no other mail inbox. Don't apologize for venting...we've all had a turn! I do understand multiple health problems. I deal w/it too. Most of us here do.... Let's have a cup of tea together (wish we could) and cozy up on the sofa. I'll think of you and you can think of me. Guest guest
Sunny. My worst Sjogren's problem is the dry mouth and as you mentioned the teeth. Sjogren's is the least of my problems too. I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. That was bad enough. Now the IPF. The oxygen helps but it isn't fun being attached to a hose and a canula all of the time. I seem to be getting worse but I think that it is the prednisone that is causing it. Beverley. My adventures today> > > > > > Well good news all. Guest guest
Hi people with dry mouth. I have had that from some of my meds since my transplant. I use a mouth wash for dry mouth and there are some gels OTC. Talk to your pharmacist and get some relief. Good luck and Aloha, Judy IPF 11/06 TX 8/07 > > > > ...
Guest guest
Sher As to Fibromyalgia, while rheumatologists generally do diagnose it because they are eliminating autoimmune diseases, it is a neurological disorder so if your rheumatologist doesn't treat it, always possible to see your neurologist if you have one or find one. > > > > ... Guest guest
Sunny, I had that problem before the O2. Now that I have it I have a humidifier on my concentrator so it is better. I was diagnosed with fibro so many years ago that it was then called fibrositis. I didn't have to go through what so many people did with the belief that it was all in the head. I have also had remission which some people who have it don't believe in. It has come back but never as severe as in the beginning. I feel very fortunate about that.
