Guest guest
Thanks MB....now it will be, WHERE do we find them? I'll try online... MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: "Swine" flu Beth, Check with a doctor for sure, but when I had my transplant they gave me 2 kinds of masks. The one yellow one like the blue ones you see are surgical or dental masks. They protect the patients from the doctor or dentist, but don't really protect the person wearing. However, I have used them many times. But the other kind they gave me makes you look like a duck and supposedly protects the person wearing it. I brought a couple of them with me on this trip and also bought one from Magellen Travel (on line. It is cloth but comes with a charcoil filter. I got it in case of VOG here from the volcano. Howeover, I haven't warn it even though we have had some VOG a couple of times here on Oahu (which I think is why I am now coughing). A 3M # 95 mask is supposed to be good, but how you can breathe with those don't suit me, and I have one newer lung.:-) Jeff, my oldest son is on a flight back to the mainland and I bought some Kleenix that are supposed to help protect you from viruses as he got a respitory infection here after the first VOG day. Anyway I would recommend everyone get some of those & of course as CDC says wash your hands, use antaceptic wipes on things and avoid sick people. Now gee how do we avoid ourselves?!! :-) I had to go have more lab tests done last night at Queen's hospital around 9 p.m. and a family was there that looked and sounded Mexican. I did not get in the elevator with them because there were 2 cruise ships that arrived here this week from Mexico. That means when I go to Wal Mart here I will definitely wear a mask and take my hand sanitizers. You all take care,Love and Aloha,Judy IPF 11/06 TX 8/07> >> > Hi everybody,> > Just thought I'd mention this since it's all over the news and it is so frightening for everyone but especially for those like us with compromised respiratory systems. > > From what I've gathered what we know is that this is a new strain of flu from which no one has immunity. Guest guest
Sher The masks aren't that expensive. While some are selling individual masks for prices like $2.95, Sam's Club has a price of $10.77 for a package of 20, making them just over fifty cents. Most I've seen have run less than $1 each. > > > > > > Hi everybody, > > > Just thought I'd mention this since it's all over the news and it is so frightening for everyone but especially for those like us with compromised respiratory systems. > > > From what I've gathered what we know is that this is a new strain of flu from which no one has immunity. Guest guest
Jane i do think it would be a good idea to curtail some of your activities until this swine flu thing is over i stopped private tutoring because kids frequently get sick it is an easy job [physically], drive to the house, sit with the student at a table, do the tutoring and drive home, although the last few times that I tutored, i found reading aloud difficult, i would get short of breath i really miss working Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re: "Swine" fluTo: Breathe-Support Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 12:00 PM Thanks, Judy & Beth for the response about the masks. The population where I live is more then 65% Latinos which includes those from Mexico, and many countries in Central America. There is a lot of coming & going & coming for those from Mexico because the economy is very bad (carpet industry) and these families take their children out of school on holidays to go back to visit Mexico and then come back. My list of places to avoid includes Wal-Mart. I also avoid huge crowds. Yesterday I went to K-Mart with and hardly anyone was there. Our family has practiced handwashing as soon as we get home from anywhere. The mission project at our church where I have been playing the piano (Soul Food) where the working poor come for a free meal is attended by mostly Latino families. I stay at the piano in the corner of the large Fellowship Hall. I am now re-considering if I should even attend and play the piano. I am also considering going & playing if I can find a really good mask. Another issue that Eddie & I have dealt with this winter is the germs that brings home because she has been with preschoolers. was sick with a cold most of the winter. I made it through all of that until March when all the pollen came out and bronchitis struck. I also thought about emailing my doctor or nurse at Emory and asking them about the N95 mask. Hey if I knew where to buy them I would. I hope everyone is having a good day today. Toodles!
