Guest guest
We've just spent the day at the hospital with Josh, having an egg challenge to establish whether he's anaphylactic or merely allergic (the latter, as it turns out). Anyway, the nurse there said it was a good sign that he *liked* the egg and wanted to eat it - apparently they often don't if they're anaphylactic, so maybe there was something in what the GP said to your Mum? Guest guest
A vegetarian who eats fish, IYSWIM! Anyone else get annoyed by people who claim to be vegetarian and then go on to qualify it by saying they also eat fish and poultry?? To me, that means they *not* vegetarian! They always seem to have colds or some sort of tummy bug. They seam to live on tinned spaghetti and fishfingers, mmm nice. My twin sister is a vegetarian and a chef as well and does some truly fantastic meals. I was a vegetarian when I was 14 - 17 to p**s **f my mother, well it worked. But when I left home at 17 I started eating meat again, although I still don't eat a huge amount and could easily manage without if I had too, but DH most defiantly could not. Guest guest
wrote <> that is a little like in our household. not that I ever have been a full blown vegetarian but for about 2 years before I met dh I lived on a mainly veggie diet (only if eating out did I eat meat) I simply can't be bothered to cook meat for one. I am the same now if dh is not in one evening I very rarely make meat for myself or the girls we tend to have something vegetarian.. Dh however asks for a specific meat if I have served him meatless meals for 2 days.. That is about his max (I did once go 3 days but then he had a big mac at his lunch break lol) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. Since not many people seem to know what a pescatarian is, it's much easier. If I don't know them well and they'd like me to eat some beef or something, I just say I'm vegetarian, because otherwise I'd have to get into a big discussion of my tastes and why I'm veg, etc. Sorry to be annoying Phyllis __________________________________________________
Guest guest
That's like our house. When DH is away on his two week trip we tend to go veggie. The last time he got home the first thing my DD1, aged 14 said to him wasn't 'Hello' or 'Your home!' It was 'Daddy, make mummy give me some meat!' To me, that means >they *not* vegetarian! > >Lesley And how! Pesky-tarian :-)))) Seems perfectly simple to me to say " I don't eat red meat " or " I don't eat meat " - because what you *don't* eat is what people need to know. I gather from restauranteurs that a particular hate of theirs is people who claim to be vegetarian and then, when they've been assured that yes, there is a range of vegetarian stuff on the menu (sometimes even when they've been told exactly what is on the menu) arrive and decide they'll have steak or whatever instead. It makes life a lot harder for those of us who are not just awkward :-) (I could have a bit of a rant about lapsed vegetarians too, for similar reasons... :-)))))))))) Grinning and ducking... (Still sulking 'cos DH moaned about 'greasy' roast veg but is now tucking into a pot of breadsticks and a jar of mayo!) -- jennifer@...
