Guest guest
Kathy I don't know about Shands, just UTSA, but sometimes type B patients can get lungs from type O donors as well. > > Today we had another appointment At Shands, complete with new tests. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, I do hope the phone rings for you. I just love Dr. Akindapi. except he told me I had to loose weight before they would consider me... HUMP, LOL.. imagine that. I had already been thinking I didn't want to go that rout so it was ok. All the best for you. Love & Prayers, PeggyFlorida, IPF/UIP 2004"I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet, when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly." Today we had another appointment At Shands, complete with new tests. My lungscontinue to deteriorate , and I am now down to 43% lung capacity. We still donot know when we will receive the call...............it will happen when thereis the "right" match. Due to the change in my test scores, my number on the UNOSlist will go up, but that means little until a donor is identified.Because I have type B blood and they tell us it is the rarest blood type, it islikely that when a donor of this blood type is found, that I will get the call.(I asked him about this and he repeated that sentence....I always thought that ABwas the rarest.) There are very few people on Shands list that have this bloodtype. this means we remain in the same position. The call could come today, amonth from now, or 6 months from now. If no call, I go back in 3 months foranother visit.I saw Dr. Akindepe.......he is a great Md.....and such a kind man.......I askedif it were possible for me to see the x-rays and the CT scan and he made a calland had them sent to the computer so I could "see" it.................thehoneycombing and all the white stuff. It was an awakening for both Jim and I.Take care and hope everyone has an easy nightKathy.flPF.......4/07Waiting for the "call"
