Guest guest
This is information I have posted before. I was about to get the vaccine, after an attack of shingles, but then I found this information. Anyone taking drugs to suppress the immune system should not get the shingles vaccine Zostavax, as the Zostavax is a live vaccine. And also do not get it at the same time with another vaccine such as the flu vaccine, Many doctors do not know this information. My doctor was about to give me the vaccine along with the flu shot, and I was on imuran and prednisone. At least this is what I understood from what I read Marcia http://www.zostavax.com/I don’t remember if I got the following information from the above link or somewhere else. I also read somewhere it said that if you get it, not to be around newborn infants or someone who is pregnant and hasn’t had chicken pox or someone who is immunosuppresed CONTRAINDICATIONS 4.2 IMMUNOSULPPRESSION Do not administer ZOSTAVAX to individuals with a history primary or acquired immunodeficiency status. ZOSTAVAX is a live attenuated vanicella-zoster vaccine and administration may result in disseminated disease in individuals who are immunosupprressed Do not administer ZOSTAVAX to individuals on immunosuppressive therapy. 7 DRUG INTERACTIONS 7.1 Concomitant Administration with Other Vaccines---
