flu shot?

Hi, everyone. As you know, my husband had his colon surgery already

to remove the tumor. His chemo/radiation starts next Monday. Today my

husband says that his immune system is weak and he should get a flu

shot. I am astonished! In the fall of 1998 he had some kind of

allergy

shot from his ENT doctor. The doctor then prescribed some type of

medicine and my husband drove to the pharmacy. While waiting for his

prescription, a woman asked him if he wanted his flu shot. He said

yes,

and she gave him the flu shot. You can imagine that taking two shots

on

the same day made him sick. He was bedridden for several days and

almost died. It was too horrible to describe to you.

Should I be worried that my husband wants to get another flu shot?

Would he react in a similar way as that time? I am already worried

about the chemo/radiation, and now he is giving me something else to

worry about. I am getting crazy here. Somebody just shoot me. heh

Narice, good idea. I should get the flu shot so he won't get it from me. Lydia,

he is going to ask his doctor next week when he sees him. :)

Hi Deb,

I really don't think it's a good idea, but your doct. should know the

answer.

Can you call his doctor? Most probably some one overhere will be able to

help you.

love, Lydia

Hi, Ingrid. I think his doctor will say no, no flu shot. He is going to wait for

the doc to decide.

Please pray his chemo/radiation goes well. Thank you everyone, for your prayers.

Deb, It is too close to the chemo. I would talk to his ONC before he

does take a flu shot. Better be safe then sorry. Hope you can talk to

your husband to hold off till you talk to the ONC, Ingrid
