Milk Thistle

I am going to make my own capsules and the source I buy from sells Milk Thistle

Leaf Cut, Milk Thistle Seed Powder and Milk Thistle Whole seed. Which one

should I order?

Yesterday I finished my fourth round of 25 mg DMSA and felt pretty spacey.

Previous rounds I was okay. Have been taking all the supplements Andy

suggested, except the milk thistle.

Does anyone think that adding the milk thistle will make a difference?

I have lead poisoning and chelated with EDTA IV's for a year. The lead levels

have gone up and down and up and down and from what I understand Andy to say,

lead takes years to clear from the body because it is stored in the bone.

If anyone has any suggestions, please pass them along. Next month I will be

69.

Thanks,

.

I buy bulk ground organic milk thistle seed from Mountain Rose Herb

Company and make my own capsules.

With this milk thistle, we brought back from the nearly-dead a llama

that had been poisoned by a plant in the azalea family. While the

poisoning took place in August and the animal recovered at that time,

it wasn't until the following February that the llama suddenly showed

symptoms of being sick. Testing was done which showed he had very bad

marks on his liver panel. The vet felt death was eminent.

We began giving the llama about 1 Tablespoon of the ground milk

thistle seed orally twice a day. (Not easy with a big animal that had

quit eating!) This was done faithfully for four months without

missing a dose. At the end of the four months another liver panel

showed normal function. The animal was gaining weight and eating on

his own. Another llama that was poisoned at the same time did not

receive the milk thistle treatments and died.

I believe milk thistle truly has restorative effect on the liver. I

take it as part of my supplement regimen for chelation. However, it

has not made a difference with regard to my mercury/lead recirculation

symptoms. I want to address the lead issue and will do that in a

separate posting.

Brain dead! Ignore my last line, where I asked if she was using DMSA, duh, she

mentioned it earlier in the post! How's that for bad short term

memory?-----------Jackie

----------The active ingredient that helps the liver in milk thistle is

silymarin. I have an herb book that says the highest concentration is in the

fruit, but it is also found in the seeds and leaves. My bottle of Silymarin

Extract capsules has *seed* in parentheses. And thinking about it, I'm not sure

how big the leaf cut would be, or the whole seed, they might not fit in a

capsule. So the powder might be the way to go for putting into capsules. Can you

contact the supplier and ask questions?----Jackie

Does anyone think that adding the milk thistle will make a difference?

------------Not sure if it will or not, that is always a guessing game, the

supplements. I can't guarantee you that it will help with that particular side

effect, but milk thistle is one that is highly recommended for liver support,

which is important for us toxic folks. It is one of the most potent

liver-protecting substances known. I would bet it is one thing that Andy still

takes on a regular basis.--------Jackie

------------The up and down and up and down that you are seeing is because the

chelation cleared the lead from your bloodstream, and then more seeped out of

your bones back into your bloodstream, raising your levels again. And that's how

lead chelation works. It slowly comes out of the bones, and you just keep

repeating this cycle with rounds of chelation. Andy says that DMSA is better for

chelating lead, than EDTA, so I hope that's what you plan on

using.----------Jackie

Wow, llamabb, this is quite a testament to the positive effect of milk thistle.

I have it here (I heard it was good for something, but by the time I got it,

forgot what!), but still haven't taken it. It will be on my list of " must

haves " :)
