Guest guest
On the plus side anything below 4 is considered normal. So you need to look at your other blood work overall health and your CT/PET scans CEA is only a part of the TOTAL picture. For more information check out the files section of the website. Since the first of the year my CEA has varied as follows 2.9 2.9 3.5 3.4 3.1 3.3 3.6 I am trying to rationalize this is not a problem. I would like to hear from anyone with a past similar CEA history and if it lead to a recurrence of cancer. I was a stage 3B with 1/29 lymph nodes positive. Surgery 4/72004. Guest guest
Thanks for the reponse. I have a BS in chemistry and used to love statistics so the onc hs a hard time adding anything to my numbers. As a number cruncher it would help to see if anyone has had similar numbers and still NED.

Guest guest
I will get a CEA reading next time I go in for bloodwork. After initial surgery and diagnosis as Stage 3c my cea was 3.5 Pretty low, but I guess because of the lymph node(7 out of 12) involvement they advised me that chemo would be good idea in hopes of preventing recurrence. Here is hoping my CEA is still down, also should get scoped in Sept... I am listening to BOND on Trio network on tv. They are rocking classical let me tell you. 4 gals. If you have not heard them, check them out. A new appreciation for classical music. LOL... Jolene > > 2.9 > 3.5 > 3.4 > 3.1 > 3.3 > 3.6 > I am trying to rationalize this is not a problem. Guest guest
Hi, Those CEA marker numbers aew still pretty low. I am waiting for my CEA results this Thurs. I guess we are all going through the same fears. I would not be too concerned with those numbers. If they keep rising abouve 5.0 then it would be time to worry. From what I understand a lot could make those numbers change a few degrees here and there. Have you asked your ONC about those numbers? That would be the best answer for you. Guest guest
My onc explained that the count is on an aoligrythm [oi! sp!}. So if you hit 100 that is double. This sort of tracks how fast the cancer cells are dividing. But he doesn't put a lot of store in the count. He's seen people riddled with cancer and have a low count, vice versa... he likes to use physical exam, the count, CT scans or Pet scans. A combo of factors. Sometimes he just stares at me.
