Why do kids go through this just for the head rush???

Why not??? Look at stuff that is on tv these days, EXTREME to the max..

Skiing or snow boarding down a mountain, bicycling in places where bicycles

were never meant to go. The Skate boarding thing, the bicycle trick riding.

My middle son was involved in the bicycle trick stuff. They rode their

bikes in the drainage ditch (all cement lined etc) until cops made them

quit, well actually

it was when they finally put guards up so they could ride there... There

is a rush in

doing this stuff as well. Read about this paraplegic guy, saw him on tv

the other night too.

all tattooed up, but he plays some extreme sport in wheel chair and they

just bang into each

other. Imagine the rush in that. It is all about extremes anymore..

Wonder why this " game "

changed from auto erotic to a " GAME " ? Now girls are doing it as well as

boys, and in groups...

When my youngest son was fooling around with this it was a game to him

and his buddies.. They

would do a sleeper hold on one of the boys until he was near to passing

out.. They thought it

was great fun. I was so mad when he told me, told him this is NOT fun,

it can kill you...

This is why kids have parents to watch out for them, because if

something like this comes

along a kid will be naturally curious and will try it.

Just like the thing I read about the other day... Kids are huffing or

sniffing the aerosol

cans of air that one uses to blow the dust out of your computer and it

kills too.

Well said my piece... Just a terrible waste of young lives. Jolene

Deb, I am so relieved and just blown away by the response I'm getting from so

many people about this and the fact that it's finally on TV. On last night's

show they said ages 10 to 14, well, alot of older kids are dying this way too,

but at least they are talking about the younger ones and that's a start. I'm so

glad you talked to Dani, and she was honest with you. She probably hasn't done

it, I hope, but I think the ones doing it often say they never heard of it. I

know some of my son's friends all denied knowing what it was, but they hung

their heads, wouldn't make eye contact with me and went from one foot to the

other in much discomfort when I talked to them. Even the authorities, the police

and detectives and hospital kept it from the newspaper, just saying my son died

at the hospital, not that the accident had happened at home. He was barely still

alive at home and pronounced dead in the ER but they were trying to revive him,

even I could tell it was too late though. But they

keep it quiet so no one knows what's going on! People don't know how quickly

this can happen, within 3 minutes brain damage starts, irreversable, the cells

begin to die. Some found in time have brain damage forever. It was a nightmare,

I don't want anyone to go through this, you miss your child forever, the world

will never be right again. All for a stupid short rush, so senseless and

preventable. And thanks to all of you in this site for letting me talk about

this, I don't mean to misuse the colon cancer forum, but my son is dead, if I

can save even one child by talking about this, it's worth butting in everywhere.

I watched the show with three of my friends and also visited the website. I

hope the TV exposure opens some eyes.

((((Dianna)))) , let me say that I for one believe that although yes this is a

cancer board , we are all human and with us being human comes the everyday life

stuff , that also is a part of us .

I would hope that with us all being as close as we all are ( least thats how I

feel) that we are comfortable talking about the rest of our lives with our

friends here.

I know I for one wouldnt have known where to turn these last few weeks with

Dani's surgery , without all of you.

And for that I thank each and everyone of you.

Hello again. They say alot of younger kids are doing it only for the head rush,

but I think for some it can turn into including the masturbation as they get

older. We all know that people masturbate, especially young boys, so what is the

big secret? Anything else can be talked about, anything. You're exactly right,

it hasn't been talked about because of the sexual aspect. Finally because so

many are doing it just for the head rush, it is getting in the news.

For starters that's ok, anyone who is doing this asphyxiation thing no matter

what it involves will know the danger of death is there for them as well. BUT

parents need to know that kids older than 14 are doing this and dying just as

often. 20/20 stated from ages 10 to 14, but most known deaths are from 12 to 25.

Parents need to be aware that older teens do this too. I know so many parents

who have lost beautiful, healthy, vibrant kids, with bright futures to this

deadly " game " , so many under 21, not just young teens. There is alot on the

internet about it, they make it sound like such fun, a rush like no other. They

need to know it's like playing russian roulette, it's just a matter of time,

just once if you don't stop the pass out in time, you die. You dont get a second

chance. Parents learn about it when they find their child dead in their bedroom.

I always felt a sense of relief when was home, in bed, asleep at night,

" Ahhhhh, safe at home " , I'd still look in on him at night. To have him die in

the safety of our home in his own bedroom, the safest place in the world, I

thought, was unfathomable. was a young 14, didn't run around with kids in

cars, he was always with us, he hadn't started doing things away from the house

with kids I didn't know, we lived way out in the country, he still did most of

his things with us. Or his friends came to our house. He rode ATV's in the

woods, watercraft in the lake, he played Playstation and Nintendo, he loved to

read, but also still read comics and built stuff with Lego. He loved Star Wars

and Star Trek and anything about space travel. He loved animals. He was just a

boy. Where he found out about this I'll never know. Thanks for saying it, but

I'm not brave at all, I just want to keep other kids from dying like this, what

a tremendous waste of a young life. ~~Dianna
