Guest guest
I use my electronic kitchen timer (from Pampered Chef, but I'm sure there are others, I don't sell it, just really like mine!) I don't remember what I paid for it, but it wasn't $100! And I think other members have posted what they use in the past, so if you search archives, you might find some others. Some have mentioned using their cell phones also.-----------Jackie In frequent-dose-chelation Lesley wrote: " robin " grainwreck@... wrote: >I have a meditation clock that counts down and then does a chime sound. You can set it to repeat so I set it for 3 hour intervals and the system worked perfectly! Wow - I had never heard of one and went straight onto the web to find myself one. All I can find is meditation clocks with 90 minute count down - but I need 3 or 4 hours. Who manufactured yours? also - $USD 100 is quite steep. How much was yours? Is the extra money worth it? Guest guest
The cell phone would be ideal, except that many phones -- including my two recent ones -- only have 5 possible alarm times, when 6 or 8 are needed for an every 4-hour or 3-hour schedule, respectively. So one has to constantly reset the alarm times with most cell phones. So I was decided to look for something small that would fit in my pocket and had a countdown timer and a time-based alarm. I found this little " Chaos " timer on Ebay. So far it's been working out great. The buttons are tiny and must be pushed with fingernails, but -- once one gets the hang of it -- that's actually a benefit, because it prevents the buttons from accidentally being pushed while the timer is in your pocket. It even has an illumination button so you can double-check and make sure you reset the countdown properly in the middle of the night, without having to turn on the lights! Sells for $3.49 + $2.50 shipping on Ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/The-Yobabs-Emporium_CHAOS-Watches-Etc_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQf\ tidZ2QQtZkm The alarm sound is pleasant and actually not annoying to wake up to, but it's not all that loud and the volume is not adjustable. So unless the timer is close by during the day (e.g., in pocket), you could miss the alarm, which lasts for about a minute then shuts off automatically. (I have no affiliation with the seller, Yobabs. I just think her(?) product works quite well for this purpose. And the price is right!) Guest guest
> also - $USD 100 is quite steep. How much was yours? Is the extra > money worth it? My clock was a gift from some students. I hosted a meditation group for years. This clock is made by Now & Zen. I had no idea they cost so much now (!) Here's a link to the one I have. http://www.now-zen.com/cgi-bin/orders/shop.pl? ACTION=ENTER+SHOP&thispage=digitalclocks&AFFILIATE=&ORDER_ID=% 21ORDERID%21 The tone is quite beautiful and it has many useful settings. The thing I like most for chelating is that, after the 3 hour count-down mode, you can set it to chime once (loud or soft) and then it automatically starts counting down another 3 hours (or whatever amount you set it for.) So if I'm out for an errand, I look at the clock before I leave to see what time I need to take my pill on the road (I conveniently set the count-down mode to match up with easy-to-remember times like 1,4,7,10,1 etc.) When I come back into the house the thing's still counting down to wherever it is in the cycle so I don't have to think about it. It's small enough to take with me and so I'm bringing it to Hawaii. As for if it's worth it? Well, if you meditate daily AND are chelating for a long time (like I will be) I think it's worth it. You'll be using it every day for something. And it's a very pretty household clock. Can use as a pleasant alarm too. I've never slept through it. It rings once and then if you don't push the button it rings again a couple minutes later and so on. after about 5 minutes if you don't answer it chimes repeatedly for quite awhile. It also depends on what sort of brain you have for remembering things. I'm an artist and don't always know what time of day it is. I rarely look at a clock, just sort of eat when I'm hungry and sleep when I'm tired. This sort of clock is a Godsend for me :-) ~robin
