Hi Kristi:

I have problems with my gums so I asked on the list what to do. If you look

up the posts under my name and about gums and hawthorne, you'll find the

questions I asked. I started using the Sonicare toothbrush recently. I use

herbal toothpastes such as with tea tree oil in it from the health food

stores. I also use black walnut drops on my toothbrush as an aid to put

enamel back on my teeth. Then I'm getting ready to try a supplement called

coral calcium. I've also used a ViaJet water pick on and off in the past.

Take care,

Gums

Hi All,

I'm going to pop in with a " dumb " question too. This may be totally

unrelated to the thryoid, but lately Ive noticed that my gums are

really sensitive. They even bled a little today when I brushed

them. I know it's not gum disease as I have always been very

particular about taking care of my teeth. Has anyone had this before?

Thanks for listening,

Kristi

Hi Kristi,

There have been several posts about gums, fairly recently too. But for me, I

was diagnosed with benign mucous membrane pemphigus of the gums, a couple

years ago--they figured it was GD related. My gums were red, sore, blistery,

I couldn't brush without breaking the skin--it was bad. I had a biopsy to

find out what happened, and the only treatment I did was to switch

toothpaste to some Chinese herbal stuff called jie yin--you can get it at

any Chinese grocery or herb shop here, my perio guy recommended it--and to a

Sonicare brush. The condition went away, luckily, in about 6 months. I also

get my teeth cleaned 3x a year rather than 2.

Other people have had some gum problems. You might try an archive search.
