Guest guest
No apology needed Again it was the barbs being thrown and the potential to turn an informative topic into a potential argument. Personally my POA for Phil was done within 2 months (maybe less) of Phil's diagnosis. We went to a lawyer in our congregation who wrote the whole thing up explained it to me (not that I remember all of it except to make tons of copies), and did it all for free. I probably could have figured it out myself true but Lord knows I was in no shape at the time to deal with it. So I am more than grateful for his kind offer to take care of this for us and when and if the time comes I only have to pull it out. OK I admit the lawyer probably would be called with the What do I do with it question but the basic work is done. I think all of us probably are smart enough to figure this out and maybe that is what Nonnie was getting at. But it sure helped me to know I didn't HAVE to do this myself and that it was done right and legal. There are lots of medical stuff I know about but I am usually better off if I make decisions WITH my doctor. He has the expertise I do not. At least for myself I approach legal matters the same way. Not because I'm an idiot who can't figure things out, but supposedly that Law Degree means they may know more about the law than I do.
