It sounds like you might be low in stomach acid. Have you tried taking 10 drops of 5% HCL in a little water with meat meals, or using betaine HCL. I found that I really battled as a vegetarian. I had to eat meat to get enough protein for my adrenals. Low adrenal and thyroid function and copper poisoning can decrease HCL production in the stomach.
