Guest guest
Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. I have been having them occasionally since I was diagnosed. Today I took 3 nitro and they didn't help. After an hour of severe pain I went to the ER. It wasn't my heart. The doctor pressed on my upper chest and I was really sore from one shoulder to the other. I guess that it was chest wall pain possibly from the PF. Have any of you had this and do you know what causes it?
Guest guest
Hello Sparrow...what's your name? The pain you are describing could be anything!!!! Do you cough a great deal with your PF...if so your chest muscles may be sore. Or you picked up something that was too heavy ? Or ????? The doc say that lungs themselves have no pain nerves but the area around them surely do!! so...get to the doctor to find out what's the cause. You don't need unknown pains to make PF more stressful! The ER should have gotten a pulmonologist in to see you before they released you. If you have Pf, you should not be guessing about chest pain!!!!' If you still have pain...get back there and demand to see a pulmonologist!! Z fibriotic NSIP/05 Z 65, fibriotic NSIP/05/PA And “mild” PH/10/07 and Reynaud’s too!! No, NSIP was not self-inflicted…I never smoked! Guest guest
Hello , I guess that my signature didn't come through. I don't cough much. The NAC seems to work good for me. The ER doctor did all kinds of tests. The chest x-ray showed the PF but the heart tests were all normal. I've had this pain before and I have seem my doctor. She told me to go to the ER when I was having them. When it started it only lasted a few seconds and it doesn't happen often but it gets worse. I am suppose to follow up with my primary care doctor on Monday. They did 2 EKGs, 2 blood draws at 90 minute intervals. They did a urinalysis and a chest x-ray. I think that was all but it was a lot. They did tell me if it started again to come back. My pulmonologist is 50 miles away. I will see him if I have to but he is moving the first of July so I will have to find another one. I am hoping to move and go to the University of Washington's IPF clinic.Beverley Joy, 71, IPF 1-09, Sjogren's, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, Idaho Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. Guest guest
Beverly, I really think that you need to give your pulmo a call. I realize it's inconvenient but chest pain is not something you should be guessing at. I'm assuming they ruled out pneumonia by looking at the chest x-ray... I would mention though that chest x-rays on pf patients are extremely difficult to read. I would not at be at all comfortable with the word of a radiologist at a community hospital that you don't have pneumonia or pleurisy or some other type of infection. When I was in the hospital recently with the H1N1 flu it was over 24 hours and my x-ray was read by many doctors before they decided I did not have pneumonia. It could be muscle spasms from coughing or muscle spasms that come from the way we use our chest muscles to get air in and out. I would just want to rule out something more serious before I went down the road of just learning to live with it. Hope you feel better. Guest guest
Sparrow (what is your name?) I'm no help except to say I have the very same thing. Have been to ER thinking a heart problem but for me, it's Fibromyalgia. Extremely painful. And I have arthritis as well. I have no solution either. Sometimes a heating pad helps. I'm sorry you hurt, I know the feeling. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! chest wall pain Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. Guest guest
The ER doc suggested that I call my cardiologist and get a stress test. I haven't had one for a long time. I can't do the treadmill though because of hip and leg pain. He asked me when I was due to go to my pulmonologist. When I told him October he seemed to be surprised that it was far off. I am supposed to go in October. Sher says that6 she gets these pains from fibromyalgia. I have had that for over 20 years so maybe that is what it is. They did say that they saw the PF on the chest x-ray. Too bad they didn't notice that 2 years ago. I could have been being treated so much sooner. I was told that it was there on an x-ray that long ago. I need to get back where it is easier to get good medical care.Beverley Joy, 71, IPF 1-09, Sjogren's, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, IdahoSubject: Re: chest wall painTo: Breathe-Support Date: Sunday, June 7, 2009, 8:19 AM Beverly, I really think that you need to give your pulmo a call. Guest guest
Sher, I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. I am also on a fibro support group. They mentioned chest wall pain to me years ago when I was having chest pain. At that time it was my heart and I had to have a stent. I have 3 more stents now. I had forgotten about the chest wall pains. I guess maybe some of them have them too so I think you are right and it is caused from the fibro. I'm so tired of pain and I'm sure that you know how that feels.Beverley Joy, 71, IPF 1-09, Sjogren's, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, Idaho Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. Guest guest
Oh BJ I do know how the pain feels. It soon becomes a constant companion! As for the stress test, I had one, laying on a table, with injection. I could tolerate the 'walking test'. Went fine, only a slight flush with the initial injection. Did your dr mention this type? Guest guest
Sher, I lowered the price on my house but no one has looked yet. I tried to answer your post before about my house but I hit delete instead of reply. I found out that the people that looked at it liked the house but he wants everything I have plus a steel building. I don't think he will find that. I could build the building for him but I won't. He still hasn't found anything so maybe they will give up and buy mine at my lower price and build his own building. I am much better today. I just got back from a surprise birthday party for my nephew at the local Mexican restaurant then to his house for cake and ice cream. I shouldn't have had that but it was a small piece of cake and a small scoop of ice cream. I guess at this stage of our lives pain will always be with us. I take Lyrica and that helps me but I have been taking two a day instead of three because of that dreaded gap.Beverley Joy, 71, IPF 1-09, Sjogren's, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, Idaho Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. Guest guest
BJ... yes, you did tell me about the steel bldg. I replied to you that I would be hesitant to do that as well... I'll bet it was fun to get out for the b'day pty. Our lives become so isolated that any reason to get out is good. Since I've been feeling better I've been out a bit more. Feels good for me. I've never been Rxd the Lyrica. You like it ok? I sure understand that 'gap'. I watch my Rx like a hawk now so as not to fall in the hole again this year. I did Rx a bit different this year, put everything I could on the insurance to reach the deductible. Now only use ins. for the more costly drugs (obviously brings the price down) and I pay out of pkt. the $4 generics. I'm fairly confident this will work throughout the year. I also watch my monthly EOB (explanation of benefits) for how much $$ is going where for Rx. At the first of the year, it's tough. Full price for costly Rx, full premiums of course until ded. is met. Have a good day today! MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR. NasturtiumsDon't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: chest wall pain Sher, I lowered the price on my house but no one has looked yet. Guest guest
Geeta. Thank you for your kind thoughts. I take pain pills and I have lived with pain for so long that it is easy to handle most of the time. Sher has the same problem and we just have to learn to live with it. I can go for quite awhile without much pain and then there is a crash and it is bad. Guest guest
Sher, That goes to show how my mind is working lately. Or should I say not working. OD. I enjoyed the party but I did get tired. I have been taking Lyrica twice a day for at least three years for neuropathy. I call it my wonder drug. I think that just the two a day has been helping my fibro almost since I started taking it. I guess that it isn't for everyone but it works for me. It is one of those expensive ones. I don't live where I can go to those places that have the $4 prescriptions. Are you saying that they don't count toward the donut hole? Maybe it would be worth the 70 mile drive to get them.Beverley Joy, 71, IPF 1-09, Sjogren's, Fibromyalgia, diabetes, Idaho Hello, I went to the ER today with chest pains. Guest guest
Beverley I was confused about your comment of not being near any $4 prescription places. I thought you lived in or near Rathdrum where Sunny lives and would be near the Walmart in Post Falls or the one in Spokane Valley. Now, the $4 does just apply to a limited number of generics. > > > Hello, > I went to the ER today with chest > pains. I have been having them occasionally > since I was diagnosed.
