Guest guest
Boring, but how about freeze some - then you can use all your new recipes at a later date too (not much use for entertaining DK's tho', I'm afraid) I've still got some from last summer in the freezer and every now and then pinch one and pop it straight in my mouth - nicer than an ice cube Todman (aka ice cube cruncher) Treasurer, Stansted Branch (R5) Mum to , 3½ Subject: Blackberries > > What else can we do tomorrow without making jam/crumble/pie? >

Guest guest
Just had a quick look in a couple of books. Not that many recipes for b/berries - loads for b/currants. But I did find one which looks/sounds yummy and sort of kiddy friendly. No apologies for the imperial measures. It's what I use and easier than typing oz/g/cups for everything. Also what about summer pudding, or is that a bit adventurous (never tried it myself). Blackberry flummery - sort of a moussey looking thing. 1lb b/berries 1pint water 2tbs cornflour 4oz castor sugar 1 tbs lemon juice 2 eggs 1/4 pint double cream Put b/b & water in pan. Boil then simmer until tender. Cool slightly then liquidise to a puree. Mix cornflour with a bit of puree until smooth. Put remaining puree in pan, add sugar and bring to boil. Add blended cornflour and lemon juice. Return to heat and stir until thick. Cool. Separate eggs and add yolks to cooled puree. Place whites in bowl and mix until fairly stiff. Fold into puree. Pour into individual dishes. Whip cream lightly and swirl into puree (so get whitey/pinky swirly effect per picture). Serve decorated with reserved b/berries. My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already.
