Guest guest
I take 600 mg 3 times daily and have had no reactions. Doc at the U. of Penn Lung Center thinks it's good to take it. Might help, doesn't hurt. Like a lot of stuff. Damn stuff smells like an outhouse in the summertime, though. Bill IPF 10-08 PA Access 350+ FREE radio stations anytime from anywhere on the web. Guest guest
If you are still taking the liquid stuff...which I agree, not only smells but tastes nasty...try seeing if your doctor will write you a prescription for the capsule form. You would probably need to find a pharmacy that compounds medications, but believe me, it is worth it! Guest guest
NAC 600 in pill form can be bought over the counter without a prescription. It's usually found in the vitamins and supplements area of a store. I buy mine at GNC. It's in a gold bottle with NAC 600 in white print. $13.50 without a membership, about $11 with a membership. I buy a membership every year for $15 and save 20% because I spend alot of money there. 33 FL IPF dx 1/06 > > > > I take 600 mg 3 times daily and have had no reactions. Guest guest
New drug plan does not have liquid NAC in its formulary, so i have to switch to OTC. Doc told me to go to Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and which kind to order. It's in the house, will begin using it when liquid is gone. What i am spending on otc NAC, might be the same as what i am spending on diet coke to mix with the liquid NAC by the way, because the diet coke is used for the prescription, my account said i could deduct from my taxes. lots of math -- 3 doses per day times 365 days a year, etc etc etc Pink Joyce IPF 3/06 Pennsylvania Donate Life Listed 1/09 inactive 4/09 www.transplantfund.org--- Subject: Re:NAC 600To: Breathe-Support Date: Thursday, April 30, 2009, 1:19 PM If you are still taking the liquid stuff...which I agree, not only smells but tastes nasty...try seeing if your doctor will write you a prescription for the capsule form.
