How terrible for you, your story made me feel very angry. Why are we so out

of control of our own bodies during labour? Feels like we are treated like

cattle, with people making decisions for us, without any input from us! I am

saving up for a private midwife next time round!

I was really cross to read the Good Birth Guide in the Sunday Times last

weekend. It said that at the Luton & Dunstable hospital (where I had my

son), that fathers are allowed to stay on the ward.....but when I was in

labour they threatened to send my DH home five times, and had me in

hysterics, and I even had the luxury of a private room!

Sorry, the above bears no relevence to your email...just had to get that off

my chest!! :)

I hope you are going to point out the error! The guide can only print

what is told to them!

Its strange - I didn't feel angry at the time - just grateful!! Kitty's birth

was

better - but I still had 2 unnecessary interventions which I had asked not to

have 'unless a clinical necessity' in my birth plan.

For the third - I'm going private!!

They could change the website....or you could contact MSLC at the hosp

to complain... or even write to Yvette , health minister - one of

the bees in her bonnet at conference was that Partners should have a

better deal in hospitals!

Anyway its the pot calling the kettle black, I have so many such letters

I ought to be writing myself ! ;-))

Best wishes,

Barbara
