Why are we so out of control of our own bodies during labour? Feels like we are treated like cattle, with people making decisions for us, without any input from us! I am saving up for a private midwife next time round! I was really cross to read the Good Birth Guide in the Sunday Times last weekend. It said that at the Luton & Dunstable hospital (where I had my son), that fathers are allowed to stay on the ward.....but when I was in labour they threatened to send my DH home five times, and had me in hysterics, and I even had the luxury of a private room! Sorry, the above bears no relevence to your email...just had to get that off my chest!! Mum to Rohan (4 mths)

Kitty's birth was better - but I still had 2 unnecessary interventions which I had asked not to have 'unless a clinical necessity' in my birth plan. For the third - I'm going private!! http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/
