Firstly of when I finished donating milk to the special baby unit and they told me I had donated 4 litre of breastmilk (I kept getting this image of 2 large coke bottles with milk in them ) What amazed me was that the Milk Bank would take small amounts, a tiny prem baby might only take 5ml for a feed - i.e. a teaspoonful! Guest guest
I tried to donate milk after Kitty was born - but despite phoning the contact at the local hospital and leaving 4 messages on the answer phone no one bothered to call me back :-(( http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/ Lonnie Fletcher wrote: > Yes that amazed me to. I remember the first time (when I was picking up stuff not delivering milk) saying oh I have some very small ones at home with no more than 1 oz in them that I collected from when Eloisa was like 1-2 weeks and they nearly feel over themselves to tell me how much they wanted these (apparently the milk in the first 6 weeks is really suitable for the prem babies)

Guest guest
only 13 places in the UK where they actually have a milk bank very sad that.. but I am lucky in that one of them is actually very close to where I live ;o) (Kingston hospital Surrey) Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake. I feel better already. Guest guest
But that's the point - there are only 13 places - one of them is near me, and they still didn't call me back!!! Even if they didn't want it I would have thought a phone call would have been polite! http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/ Lonnie Fletcher wrote: > only 13 places in the UK where they actually have a milk bank very sad that.. but I am lucky in that one of them is actually very close to where I live ;o) (Kingston hospital Surrey) > I tried to donate milk after Kitty was born - but despite phoning the contact at the local hospital and leaving 4 messages on the answer phone no one bothered to call me back :-(( > > > http://www.foxstitch.co.uk/
Guest guest
yes very bad when I contacted Kingston they nearly fell over themselves to get me in as they when I started donating had NO donor's at all.. By the time I stopped they had that many they had to send some breastmilk to another bank as they had no room for storage; Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama & expecting a Christmas delivery... Caro - find all you need to know here: http://www.science-network.com/ukamb/ukamb-main.html In fact there are now 14 milk banks - one has recently opened in N Ireland. I got a letter from UKAMB this week telling me my membership expired last July. I know it didn't and they are asking for a copy of my membership card but since it's stuck on my noticeboard in Nottingham there isn't much chance of that happening. Besides, it's time to renew! -- Sue
