Guest guest
Ok here we are again...now I finished zithromycin..10 days. I was feeling better, but within a few days of the end of the zithromycin...it began coming back. It began with serious fatigue the last few days, coughing last night, barking cough. Today. short of breath again...same old thing...back again. I had called the doctor after I finished the blister pack of meds..since I only had to take 5 pills, which somehow stays in the body for 10 days....because I did not feel like I was getting better. They told me to wait it out until after that 10 days. That was the 23rd of Dec. Anyone ever had bronchitis for 2 months?? They may suggest steroids, but I am not sure with my adrenal fatigue and being on ACE if that is a smart option. As for Vit A..will that kill bacteria? This is a secondary bacterial infection. > > Jan, > > Why only 7 days of antibiotics? Should be 10 days minimum and sometimes up to 14-30. We give the little one cod liver oil but to head off an infection we also use the synthetic acetate or palmitate A, sometimes as much as 50,000IU for a few days and it has saved us an antibiotic more times than I can count. > > For an adult, 100,000IU for a few days to a week are totally safe as infe
Guest guest
Jan, Sorry you're having such a time. Yes, the A will help kill the bacteria, but how well depends on a lot of variables. I have the same thing now, just started, with that horrible hacking cough which I can tell you how to control. A nurse told me this and I thought she was crazy but after being up the first half of last night hacking myself to death, I decided to try it. It's not complicated, just take a couple Ibuprofen, calms the inflammation in your throat that keeps you coughing. I took the Ibuprofen with a couple of teaspoons of Robitussin DM and managed to sleep the rest of the night in peace, and take a nap this afternoon without waking to constant coughing, so it works. Try the A, synthetic, large doses for up to a week. Hope you feel better. was: Recurring bronchitis? Now: Still have bronchitis Ok here we are again...now I finished zithromycin..10 days. Guest guest
Jan, Sorry you are still feeling bad. I'm sick, too, probably over the hump now, and mine is mostly viral, but since I've had immune support on my mind, here are a couple suggestions: I agree with on the vitamin A. I am taking 100,000 IU and my understanding is this is fine during an illness and will improve immune function. Look for synthetic (palmitate or acetate) without any beta carotene. I use the mycelized stuff (though it does have preservatives). Vit A improves immune function in general, doesn't kill bacteria directly as far as I know, but will help your body do so. Expectorant (guaifenesin, as in robitussin, or you can also get " natural " version from HFS) always helps me with bronchitis. Helps to reduce the cough and make it more productive when you do cough. Natural antibiotics might help you more than Rx antibiotics. Consider berberine herbs, GSE, OLE, licorice. You can stay on these without the time limitation of Rx stuff. You may find one of these more effective than others. GSE has little effect for me, but I find the berberine stuff quite potent. Oil of oregano is another one. I've always found licorice amazingly helpful for coughs/bronchitis. Good adrenal support, too. Not sure what they want to give you in terms of steroids, but if they will Rx hydrocortisone, jump for it. It sounds like you could really use it. -- > > > > Jan, > > > > Why only 7 days of antibiotics? Should be 10 days minimum and > sometimes up to 14-30. Guest guest
Yes, I was considered having chronic bronchitis and every time I got a cold it went directly into my lungs. I did several things; one being apple cider vinegar from health food store, and the other is taking cepacol mouthwash and breathing in the steam from same diluted with water. Breathe deep to get into the lungs. Dr. Judd who wrote good teeth, birth to death recommended this as being a cure for pneumonia. Hope it helps you. --- sage@...> wrote: > Jan, > > Sorry you are still feeling bad.
