Question about Deglycyrrihizinated licorice for Adrenal Support?

Just wandering if Deglycyrrihizinated licorice is as effective for the

adrenals as regular licorice? Regular licorice seems to give me

caffeine like jitters. Anybody tried this instead? Let me know.

Sincerely, Sidney

The DGL form of licorice does nothing (for me) as far as adrenal

support. And if you get jitters from the regular stuff, I would

use something else.

Adrenal cortex helps some people, it is easy to find and worth a try.

Others really need cortisol. To go this route, try calling up

practitioners (ND, DO, MD) and question how they treat endocrine

issues and whether they can/will prescribe hydrocortisone. Usually

you can get some information over the phone (or by email) about how

they approach this and whether they can prescribe.

If you do get some cortisone, start by taking a good dose in the

morning. Sometimes this will tell your body to stop making cortisol

(or adrenaline or whatever) at night if that is an issue for you.

Also, taking in the morning only is supposed to be less suppressive.

You can always try some serine at night (either kind) and see if

it helps. If you have problems with it, don't use it. When my

cortisol is too low, serine makes my heart pound and I feel like I

can't breathe - needless to say that is not conducive to sleep.

However, when my cortisol is too high, it really helps me sleep

and has no side effects.

Hi , You are a life saver. Thanks so much

for the advice. It helps me a lot. I think I will

order the P-serine and try it in the evening. It's

worth a shot I think. i just don't sleep after

midnight. Thank you again. **Sidney
