If you are having side effects at 2 mg, then you can be quite sure that the dose is still in the effective range for you. J ------------Could it be possible that he is an *extremely fast* metabolizer, and needs to dose more often than every 2 hours? And someone, I think maybe Dave, mentioned that this could be a sign of being high plasma cysteine, meaning very sensitive to sulfury things, foods and supplements? So , have you ever tried eliminating the high sulfur foods we've been talking about? And I do agree with , that if you are getting symptoms, then it is doing something.---------Jackie > > Thanks, > >

Guest guest
I'm not noticing any negative side effects from ALA 2mg, the only thing I notice is I feel calmer and have much less brain fog! >So , have you ever tried eliminating the high sulfur foods we've been talking about?< I don't seem to have a problem with sulfur foods unless I eat allot of it. Sounds like you found your target dose, even if it is small. I always think it is better to find the dose that you feel best at and most functional and stick with that, because you will be more likely to keep chelating, instead of trying to push it on a higher dose and feel terrible and not want to chelate.-----Jackie >So , have you ever tried eliminating the high sulfur foods we've been talking about?< I don't seem to have a problem with sulfur foods unless I eat alot of it. As long as you know what bothers you and what to avoid. Good luck------------Jackie > > > > I can't seem to handle ALA above 2mg every 2-3 hours without having > > very bad side effects.Does anyone know if there is a low dose limit, > > below which your body is not chelating at all? > > If you are having side effects at 2 mg, then you can be quite sure > that the dose is still in the effective range for you. > > J > > ------------Could it be possible that he is an *extremely fast* metabolizer, and needs to dose more often than every 2 hours? Guest guest
This may well mean that you have trouble with sulfur. I'd consider looking into it more, if I were in your place. The issue with sulfur is that some of us have kidneys that tend to retain it. That's why, if we are on a low sulfur diet for a while, it's possible to consume some. If we keep it up, thought, then the sulfur slowly accumulates until it starts to cause very unpleasant effects. The issue with ALA, as Andy has explained it, is that it significantly increases the sulfur in the body. So, for those of us who tend to retain it, a rounds of ALA will produce symptoms that become progressively more and more uncomfortable. So, try to identify if you have similar troubles with dairy, eggs, onions, beans/peas, etc. (Dairy is the worst in this regard, but notice that this is different form a dairy " allergy " . It's not an immune response, nor is it a pharmacological response to partially digested milk proteins.) Dave. ------------ I'm not noticing any negative side effects from ALA 2mg, the only thing I notice is I feel calmer and have much less brain fog! >So , have you ever tried eliminating the high sulfur foods we've been talking about?< I don't seem to have a problem with sulfur foods unless I eat allot of it. Guest guest
Iv'e never had a problem with dairy, eggs, onions, beans/peas, etc. Just garlic is a problem, and as you know, even though garlic is high in sulfer it also redistributes mercury which can cause very unpleasant symptoms. So, I really think I have allot of mercury stored in my brain, and that's why I can only tolorate a very low dose of ALA. But I will keep the sulfer issue in mind just in case. Thanks, > > This may well mean that you have trouble with sulfur. I'd consider > looking into it more, if I were in your place. Guest guest
. Of course, you may have your own idiosyncratic reaction to garlic; but the reason that garlic redistributes mercury is because it is high in sulfur! Dave.
