My son is only 4 months old and all we use is cotton wool and water, because

we were told that wipes are not suitable for babies under six months. This

is apparently because they could be allergic, and I have used them on him,

and he has been fine. However, water is cheaper!! so we use wipes now when

out and about, and water at home.

Sudocreme is fab for nappy rash, but he suffers fungal infections alot, so a

tube of canestan is always on hand...god knows what my chemist must think

about me!! I have been through 4 tubes in as many months!!

Have to use pampers as tried the rest and they all leak on him, want to try

cloth nappies, but feel very lazy and they are quite expensive to outlay.

I am so way past nappy changing stage that I thought I wouldn't

contribute anything to this thread but....

I was told to avoid using any creams with dispoables as they can block

the lining material and reduce absorption. Might be absolute

codswallop but I didn't use cream after that (DD was about 6 days old)

but she had a lot of nappy-free time from then on - encouraged by my

mum who gave me the courage to put down a thick towel and not worry if

she peed (you have to know just how uptight my mum is about her

carpets to understand how this gave me confidence).
