Guest guest
I just heard an ad and wonder if I heard correctly. It's capitalizing on the news that K-iodide drops will be available to postal workers to protect them from possible effects of radiation. You can contact www.noradinfo.com (as in " no radiation " ) for info on how to get similar supplements. Now I wasn't able to concentrate thanks to my 3 year old but is this what it in fact is about? (!?!?!) Take care, Fay ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Yes, capitalising is the word, over a $1 per 100mg KI tablet - geez. They give a link to the nrc.gov site, which discusses the issues quite sensibly, and links to the FDA who are recommending 130mg a day for adults and 65mg for kids (less for babies) during evacuation from radiological incidents. Graves patients and the pregnant are advised against taking it for a long time, so all the more encouragement to evacuate to somewhere less " hot " , as quickly as possible. Guest guest
Hi Fay, Yes, KI is given in in tablet form to saturate the thyroid cells. This will prevent the cells from absorbing radioiodine in the event of a nuclear spill. You wouldn't take the tablets though until such a distaster did happen since these tablets can also affect thyroid function and thyroid autoimmunity. Take care, Elaine
