Guest guest
(((Donelle)))))) thanks hun, we have MRI scheduled for this Friday at 445pm eastern time, But wont get the results til prob Wednesday ughhhhhhhhhh. As if we dont have enough problems , we live with my parents ( have for years ) and my older sis asked them what was happening to the house when they die( she is a well not a nice word) Mom said we are to have the house , which she started griping about saying it wasnt fair and the house should be sold and split between us 3 kids ( me , her , and older bro) My sister lives in a 250,000 dollar home!!! mind you. I ask how is it fair that I am the one that is going to be sole care takers to both my parents??? As both siblings live out of state. Mind you I do this willingly these are MY parents , and not some burden , however where does she get off????????? Mind you our home , is in inner city , not a very nice neighborhood , but no one bothers us and we dont bother anyone , needs major work literally ( whole house is on only 4 fuses lol) and its a 2 story , so you can imagine. It needs serious revamping and if we ever win the lottery we will fix it up , as it stands its HOME . Its the house I was born in , and the house I myself plan on dying in, Mom and Dad said they are going to get together and have Wills drawn up to this effect, as I am seriously concerned that she will fight over it. Mom said she thinks sis is trying to make it sound like they are incompetent, pfffffft they are both in there right minds , just older and a tad more forgetful. Sorry for venting but I am STRESSSSSSSSSSSSSED By the way I bought some new hair dye today!! Going to go strawberry /blonde Deb Grandmommyandme@... wrote: In a message dated 8/17/2005 10:04:56 A.M. Guest guest
I am agreeing with Karima on this deal with your sis. Why is it the one's who have the most are the greediest? Get your folks to do the will and let it be settled. Then no arguing about it. I refused to argue over anything that belonged to my mom even though I wanted and thought as the oldest I was entitled to the framed wedding photos of my mom parents and of my parents. I have since asked her to have copies made, but I am afraid it will be cold day in hell before she has it done. I will have to write to her again soon. Yes you are stressed and so need to take care of those situations that you can and leave the rest up to the Lord. You will be fine... Guest guest
Deb, That is always the worst is when siblings fight over things like this. I would not get to concerned over this right now. Both your parents are still living and this is still a long ways off. Ingrid > > > In a message dated 8/17/2005 10:04:56 A.M. Guest guest
i think they should put the house in your name.... it frees it from if they ever need nursing home care or put it into a living trust. Another idea is have them execute a quit claim deed and have it recorded in your name. I am assuming there is no mortgage on it. Find out if you have the quit claim deed dated say now if you can use it after they die to record it Another idea might be to record a mortgage with you guys as the lien holders on the house and then claim the house upon their death.. When push comes to shove your relatives will come out of the woodwork to claim what they thin k is their care. Guest guest
also remember if there are insurance policies with NAMED beneficiaries those insurance policies are outside of any estate that might require probate. A living trust is sometimes, in my opinion better than a will because there may not be probate involved. You also have to look into the amount that an estate can be without estate taxes. It varies by state. You can look online for the information in the state where you are. Look up probate laws in google for whatever state you are in. A trust can be established at least around here for around 300-400.00 and will save alot of grief later. Make sure they have a will. Otherwise someone will have to file for summary administration and distribute the monies. Regards, Nonnie Re: ENOUGH is ENOUGH!! /Deb/Joe I am agreeing with Karima on this deal with your sis. Guest guest
also remember if there are insurance policies with NAMED beneficiaries those insurance policies are outside of any estate that might require probate. Guest guest
you can search for comp listings. I don't know of any house in today's world that sells for 35K. Just to be curious you might want to call a realtor like you MIGHT sell.. Sign NO contract but ask for comp listings in your area and ASK them to evaluate the house which they will do for free. If they want to charge you kick them out the door. They will be very pleasant because as the " listing agent " which they think they would be if you decided to sell they will be nice and arrive at a listing price which will give you a better idea of what you are sitting on. PS Do you have a power of attorney for your parents? That would be a good thing in case you had to access and dispose of anything on their behalves. I would also suggest a durable power of attorney. Guest guest
I agree. I live outside LA where tract home start in the millions and in south central LA (gang area) there are homes going for $500K and up. It is awful. I can't believe you can live anywhere for $35K

Guest guest
Wouldn't it be easier just to read the real estate ads in the area? Guest guest
wowza thats outrageous, but seriously our neighborhood is pretty bad and the house isnt in the best shape, ( wiring etc ) If the wiring /plumbing was fixed , house sided and new roof put on , it would bring more I am sure but as it is cant imagine it being worth much more Deb brencolinmom@... wrote: I agree. Guest guest
Well when I went through the deal for a debt reduction loan, they valued my house at around $38,000 and when I got my tax letter they devalued the taxable value about $3,000. Don't know why... My house is 3rd house from main street, houses on the corner are valued at commercial level... so who knows could be a gas station next door to me -- better than trash house that is there now. Wish some developer would come and offer to buy all the property, course now with eminent domain they can just take it if we don't like the price. My daughter is selling her house which is say about 2 blocks from us. It is a little bigger, has burglar bars and is going to let it go for $53,000 since Kris's ex is wanting to buy it... Considering we paid 24600 for house when we got it in 76, if I could get 40,000 for mine I would take it --- if Kris and had a place to go and me too. The way rent is now, that so many troops are here again, it is just sky high. Ridiculous. I could have sold my house as is already, but not ready to do that. I wish I could afford to fix what is wrong... Is not a great neighborhood but it is just across street about 1/2 block from elementary school.. Bus stop on corner.. We have a nice big back yard which I dearly love. Most new houses have lousy back yards. You know Deb, if you live in certain areas you can get grants to refurbish the house. They have those areas here in town, and is usually to help older folks fix up house in a depresseed neighborhood. I tried but money was not available until 2005 and she brushed me off. Let me look into it and that was last I heard from her. Daughter Laurie is going to help do some stuff when house is sold. Fix my car and trim the pecan tree. It is huge again and really needs trimming. What a sweetheart. Well guess I have rambled enough. Hope what I wrote makes sense.
