lol, you already know it does.

hyperlexia is one of the autistic spectrum adaptions to neurological

difficulty

i wouldn't focus on the hyperlexiaespecailly, autistic spectrum and

autism are where solutions are found for u.

could be a parasite problem, dietary intolerances and/or enzyme

deficencies...taking some houstonni zyme prime consistently will give

you some answers and hopefully improvements fairly soon.

I agree with . I don't know that malabsorbion directly =

hyperlexia, however, we have seen many, many times that improving

digestion also improves communication and language. Many of

the " typical " symptoms and behaviors of autistic spectrum conditions

and neuorlogy are intrically linked to what is going on in the gut.

Here is your big clue:

>>For years my son has suffered from constipation, large stools,

occasional diarrhea, and stomach pains.

This typed of condition is a dead-ringer for success with enzymes.

Both of my sons improved in language and socialization in a number

of ways. They both always had language, but the way they used it and

the extent of being conversational changed. However, investing in

enzymes just to take care of the gut issues will probably make your

son feel so much better.

And welcome to the enzyme board!

Hi ,

Austin's dx was hyperlexia and pdd. He had serious bowel problems --

diarreha. Stool study showed that he had klebsiella in his gut. The gfcf

diet helped a lot -- but with minor diet infractions, the diarreha would

return. It often lasted more than a week. Once we treated the klebsiella

(with the herb Uva Ursa) the diarreha went away with diet infrations. Austin

is tall and thin (44 in. and 37 lbs) at 5.10 yrs. He eats good but I suspect

he has a malabsorbtion problem as a result of the damage to his gut. We

have him on Peptizyde now and I notice his appetite increased and he seems to

be getting taller. I just wish he would gain some weight. Most of his

relatives are on the thin side -- so he will probably always be thin. At

this point though, I just feel he is too thin.

Welcome to the group.

Hi ,

My daughter(3yr old) is hyperlexic/PDD and has serious absorption

issues. Great Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory does a complex stool

analysis. This test is a must. Since your husband is a md he can be

the ordering physician. They will send you the stool kit. What about

supplements? You can also go to Kirkman Labs website(kirkmanlabs.com)

and order a free copy of an Intestional Guide and ASD. The book has

helped me a great deal. My daughter is getting better slowly. She lost

5 pounds from November to January. Her Dr. ordered an IGg food

sensitivity assay, most of the foods she was eating she tested highly

positive for. Since then I have eliminated them and am very strict in

her diet, what a difference. So far she has gained 3lbs.

Participation in this group has proven to be an excellent source of

information.

Welcome!!
