Oh you poor thing, my DS wasn't particularly sicky but it does remind me of the " job description " I gave myself for the phase he went through from 7 to 9 months after he started his " commando crawl " (on his tummy). Follow child round clearing up the sick! He was always particularly active after meals (as he is now!) which was HORRID - my poor carpets! Not sure thats a great help but I can remember sat feeding him with a bath towel covering my legs. DS2 never did this and DS3 was not too bad. Guest guest
It's a real pain Hannah, but my only suggestion is to have another baby! My other two were like this all the time, but Euan has only been sick about 3 times in the last 16 weeks. I can't believe how wonderful it is to have a baby who *isn't* sick (plus who also cries to go to bed - sorry you don't need to hear this!). One thing that may help though - how long does he feed for? I eventually got it a bit better with the other two by feeding for very short times and making sure that feed actually reached their tummies and got digested. It also meant that I never winded them because if I did, it all came straight back out again. I see the difference with Euan as if he ever grizzles with his feed, I sit him up, he burps, he's happy and we carry on, and the other two were *never* like that. Hope he stops it soon. Hannah Posseting - RANT I am so sick (haha) of being puked on ALL the time!!! ARGHH Somebody remind me when they grow out of it? Alfie possets constantly and goes through umpteen clothes changes a day. Dh is not the most baby friendly person at the best of times but it doesn't help father son relations when everytime he picks him up he gets puked on!! I've had sick in my hair, face everywhere and after 5 months of this I'm starting to get just a tad fed up of constantly smelling of baby SICK!!!!!!! Rant over. Guest guest
Oh yes, Ruthie! I used to feed them for five minutes only (!!!), although that's what they seemed really comfortable with and at least they kept it down. In the end, you could set your watch by DS2 as he always stopped after five minutes! Hannah Re: Posseting - RANT One thing that may help though - how long does he feed for? He put on a pound a week so it obviously worked (and he's pretty well padded still at 4.5) Caroline

It doesn't actually bother me too badly most of the time - it's not as if I've got any nice clothes anyway (apart from a beautiful batik nursing dress I sewed myself last month that I daren't wear) I just happened to be sitting at the computer when he did a particularly large vomit all over me yet again, so thought I'd have a little moan. It certainly bothers dh a lot more than me - he finds it quite disgusting I think - I tell him it's only breastmilk, but apparently it's worse because it's part digested - (although surely even his digestive juices are made from me? as I grew him and solely feed him - he's entirely made from me isn't he? Anyway I digress...) He'll probably start having a little bit of solids in a month or so, so maybe that'll make a difference.. Guest guest
My first two babies were like this and I understand that can be very depressing. With DD2 someone suggested Infant Gaviscon and it worked like magic. She was 5 months old before anyone suggested it which was a bit of a shame! I know not everyone would want to use medication but I was happy to try it. Fiona

Guest guest
Hannah I don't have the ingredients of Infant Gaviscon but can find out tomorrow - unless anyone else can help in the meantime. However, IIRC it works by thickening the feed in the stomach and sort of weighting it down. I think it isn't thought be be absorbed by the baby and the most common side effect is constipation - or is it diarrhoea? Fiona
