Guest guest
At first we used cotton wool and warm water, then switched to wipes (J&J). Since I switched to cloth nappies four months ago we have been using reusable wipes - IKEA flannels cut in half and hemmed, soaked in camomile tea (need to soak as we don't change dd in the bathroom, otherwise I guess we'd use the tap!). When we are out and about we use Tushies wipes (when I remember to get them from the health food shop) or J&J. Cream - if she has nappy rash (caused by a 'UP " or 'unidentified poo' as we call them in our house) I use some sudocrem or Active Birth Centre nappy cream. Otherwise nothing! And as a variation of 's theme of laying a terry on a cold changing mat, I am always armed with muslin squares which I put over the mat - useful for drying in all those crevises! ---------- > >To: nct-coffee > >Subject: Nappy Changing and Wipes >Date: Mon, Jun 18, 2001, 1:19 PM > > I use cloth nappies so also use cloth wipes (ie. cut up pieces of sheet!) > which I soak in Camomile tea and lavender oil wring out and use. > > I can't get on with any of the commerical wipes as my son reacts to most > chemicals it seems! > > As for cream I don't use that either due to above, but probably wouldn't > use it anyway as I can't stand the thought of covering his butt in zinc > which is what most of them contain. > > Also someone said something about using creams and disp being a no no - I > also heard that because the chemicals can react together!?! - don't know > how true that is! > > Joanne King > SAHM to Ethan - HB 29.06.00 > Minute Secretary Colchester & District >

I ended up using kitchen towel under DS's bottom as he invariably did a poo or wee mid change - when he was wheeny that is. I always had a piece of kitchen towel at the ready to stem the fountain flow of wee, especially as he was being changed on the desk between 2 monitors and we didn't wish the electrics to suffer! - reminiscing of DS's wheeny days - aarrhh! Is that considered a cream and therefore a no-no? Come to that - why / where do we get the idea that baby needs cream or something on their butt anyway? And what's best (if anything) with cloth nappies? This has been going around my mind recently (as things do)!! Janet

Just let the air circulate from time to time. It does not seem to do her any harm !
