Guest guest
--- >Hi, can anyone offer me some reassurance please >Also has anyone got any experience of a good birth experience after a previous CS? >TIA Kate, mum to Jake 26 months. yes!! I had my 2nd daughter vaginally, 3.5 hrs, no pain relief (unnecessary Ventouse but thats another story entirely and largely due to the fact that I foolishly agreed to continuous monitoring!) There are plenty of good stories out there (and midwives and (shock horror!) even Drs who will support you in your desire for a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC) ) GO for it! remember rupture is rare, and even rarer in women who ARE NOT given drugs to induce or speed up labour. Having those drugs is where the risks lie IMO. Someone more on the ball will have the stats I have no doubts, but I just wanted to leap in & reassure you that there are lots of us around who have had VBACs. Guest guest
Kate, Lots of people here will reassure you and support you over the next few months but here isa quick link for you to look at http://www.childbirth.org/section/VBACFAQ.html Caroline Jersey > > Hi, can anyone offer me some reassurance please?! I read a horrible article in the Guardian last week about the risk of uterine rupture. The article was written in a very scaremongering way - started by saying " Your baby could die or be brain damaged ... you could end up having a hysterectomy etc etc " Although hidden amongst all the hype there were some reassuring stastistics, I have still been left feeling very worried. I am fifteen weeks pregnant, and had a horrible experience last time, what with an induction, foetal distress and an emergency section. And now I feel I have something else to panic over! > > Also has anyone got any experience of a good birth experience after a previous CS? > TIA Kate, mum to Jake 26 months. Guest guest
Angi, thanks for this. It was good to hear your experience. Thanks also for everyone who has sent me links to look at. I have started to have a look at all the links. I don't know though whether the more I read, the more worried I get! I understand that the risk is small, but that doesn't stop me worrying but what if?! Anyway, I am feeling a bit better and more positive today. Yesterday I found I was reliving all the guilt around my first birth by C/S , which I thought I had come to terms with. Thanks again to everyone who responded to my message. Guest guest
Hi Barbara, thanks for your message. Not sure that my midwife would be the right person for me, but I am sure that the hospital had an birth afterthoughts service which I will look into.. One of the hospital midwifes went through my notes with me whilst I was still in hospital and then a consultant went through it with me again at my six week check. My DH really doesn't understand my feelings of guilt over the whole thing. Anyway, thanks again Kate Hi Kate - it is quite natural to reflect on the first birth experience > when you are pregnant again. and feeling all sorts of > emotions...whatever the birth experience. > Can you talk to your midwife about it? or a close friend?
