The joys of American vs. British English :-) !

Had the same experience (in Canada) when talking about tissues = 'Oh...

KLEENEX!' and a queue = lineup (I hadn't heard of that one then).

(I'm sure that Phyllis and Joyce can add infinitum to the differences

they've encoutered).

We have American TV so much over here that it's easy for us to be wisened up

on different terms but I guess North Americans don't have much British TV

and it's not until you mix that you notice different expressions.

Interestingly, when I stayed in Canada, I was amazed at how one of the first

questions I was almost always asked about the UK (other than 'it always

rains in England, doesn't it?') was....... ' Do you have Mcs in

England? ' !!!!!!!
