Guest guest
Hi, I am Jane, a single mom with two teenage girls. I was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2003 when I was 43yo. I had surgery and was diagnosed with stage IIB - no lymph node involvement. I went thru a round of chemo and scans showed all was clear. Last Oct. my hemoglobin was very low and the dr. thought I had bleeding somewhere so we started testing. The scans showed mets in my liver plus I had a tumor in my duodenum. The dr. says I am stage IV. I am again going thru chemo. I think I have about 6 weeks left. I receive 5FU and Oxaliplatin. I did receive erbitux also for about 4 months. Recent scans show the liver is clear. I will have to have another endoscope done to check on the duodenum tumor. My mom had colon cancer at 56yo. She is still going strong at 87. We think my grandfather may have had duodenal cancer but we are not sure. Chemo is difficult but when I start hearing others stories and their difficulties it makes me feel stronger and that I am not alone. Cancer causes so much more then just health problems. But I take it one day at a time, one step at a time. Jane
